New Beginnings
Part 3
As the team settled into the conference room, Alexis took a deep breath and slid into the empty chair beside her uncle, Aaron Hotchner. The room was filled with the familiar scent of freshly brewed coffee and the hum of conversation. "So, Alexis, tell me a bit about yourself," Hotchner said, turning to her with a warm smile. "I feel like I've missed out on so much of your life." Alexis smiled back, feeling a bit more at ease. "Well, Uncle Aaron, I've been working with the FBI for a few years now, mostly in Texas. I've been doing some great work, but I'm excited to be here with the BAU." Reid, who was sitting across from them, perked up at the mention of Alexis's work experience. "Ah, Texas, that's a great place to start. I've always been fascinated by the different regional approaches to law enforcement." Alexis turned to Reid, her eyes sparkling with interest. "Yeah, it's been a great experience. But I'm excited to be here, working with the BAU. I've heard so much about the team's work." Derek Morgan, who was sitting beside Reid, chimed in. "Well, we're glad to have you on board. We're a bit of a quirky team, but we get the job done." JJ, who was sitting at the far end of the table, smiled. "Quirky is one way to put it, Derek. We're more like a dysfunctional family." The team laughed, and Alexis felt a bit more at ease. She glanced around the table, taking in the familiar faces. She had heard so much about the BAU, and she was excited to be a part of it. Hotchner leaned back in his chair, a serious expression on his face. "Okay, let's get down to business. We've got a case that's been puzzling us, and I think Alexis's fresh perspective could be just what we need." The team began to discuss the case, and Alexis listened intently, taking in every detail. She was eager to contribute and prove herself, and she felt like she was off to a great start. As the discussion continued, Alexis found herself feeling more and more comfortable. She was starting to feel like part of the team, and she was excited to see what the future held. Penelope Garcia, who had been quietly observing from the sidelines, spoke up. "I've got the case files right here. Let me pass them out." As the team began to review the case files, Alexis leaned over to her uncle. "Thanks for bringing me in on this, Uncle Aaron. I'm excited to work with the team." Hotchner smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm glad to have you here, Alexis. I think you're going to be a great asset to the team." The team continued to review the case, discussing every detail and theory. Alexis listened intently, taking mental notes and asking questions. She was determined to prove herself and make a difference. As the meeting drew to a close, Hotchner summarized the team's plan. "Alright, here's what we're going to do. Derek and Morgan, you'll work on interviewing witnesses and gathering more information. Reid, I want you to dig deeper into the victim's background and see if you can find any connections. Emily, you'll work with Alexis to review the evidence and see if we can find any leads. Garcia, can you get us some more data on the victim's phone records and online activity?" The team nodded, and Alexis felt a surge of excitement. She was officially part of the BAU, and she was ready to take on the challenge.
