"Slumber Amidst Sorrow"

Part 23

Nozomi's tears continued to fall onto Saki's battered face, her lips still pressed against Saki's in a desperate bid for a response. But as the minutes ticked by, her kisses grew softer, her body relaxing as she realized that Saki was not going to stir. She pulled back, her eyes welling up with tears once more as she gazed at Saki's still form. As she looked at Saki, Nozomi felt her own exhaustion wash over her. She had been crying for what felt like hours, and her body was beginning to ache. She leaned forward, her head resting against Saki's shoulder, and let out a soft sob. Her tears fell onto Saki's skin, mingling with the sweat and blood that had accumulated there. As she cried, Nozomi felt her eyelids growing heavy. She tried to fight it, but her body was tired, and she couldn't keep her eyes open. She let out a soft whimper, her body shaking with sobs, and then she was asleep, her head still resting against Saki's shoulder. Saki lay still, her eyes fixed on some point above, her expression distant and detached. But as Nozomi's tears continued to fall onto her skin, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. She didn't move, didn't stir, but she felt a sense of calm that she hadn't felt in a long time. The two women lay there, entwined in a pose of sorrow and despair. Nozomi's tears had slowed to a stop, her body rising and falling with a soft, gentle breath. Saki's chest didn't move, but she was breathing, her body still and quiet. As the hours ticked by, the room around them grew quiet. The sounds of the city outside receded, and the only sound was the soft hum of the air conditioner. The two women slept, lost in a world of their own, a world of sorrow and pain. But even in sleep, they were not alone. Rin's presence lingered in the room, a ghostly presence that seemed to watch over them. Her eyes seemed to gleam in the darkness, a soft, satisfied smile playing on her lips. She had left her mark on Saki, a mark that would take a long time to heal. And as she watched over them, she seemed to be savoring the moment, her chest rising and falling with a slow, satisfied breath.
