Uncertain Futures
Part 2
As the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow over the park, Sans and Undyne continued their conversation. They talked about everything and nothing, their words flowing easily as they sat on the bench. Sans couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort around Undyne, despite her tough exterior. She was one of the few people who didn't seem to mind his laid-back attitude, and he appreciated that. As they talked, a group of kids ran by, laughing and playing tag. Sans watched them with a smile, feeling a pang of nostalgia. He remembered when he and Papyrus were kids, running wild and free through the underground. Life was simpler back then, before the humans came and everything changed. Undyne noticed Sans's distant expression and nudged him. "Hey, what's up? You seem a million miles away." Sans shrugged, his eyes refocusing on the present. "Just thinking about the old days, I guess." Undyne nodded sympathetically. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes I miss the way things used to be, before the humans came and everything changed." Sans looked at her, surprised. "You do?" Undyne nodded. "Yeah, I do. But at the same time, I'm glad we've made progress. I'm glad we have a chance to make a new life here, with the humans." Sans smiled wryly. "I'm not sure I'm ready for all that change, though." Undyne raised an eyebrow. "You're not?" Sans shook his head. "I don't know, I just feel like I'm stuck in a rut. Selling hotdogs, day in and day out. It's not exactly fulfilling." Undyne laughed. "Well, maybe you just need a push to get out of that rut." Sans raised an eyebrow. "What kind of push?" Undyne grinned mischievously. "Leave that to me." As they continued to talk, Sans couldn't shake the feeling that Undyne was plotting something. He wasn't sure what, but he had a feeling that his life was about to get a lot more interesting. Just then, a loud announcement came over the park's speakers, echoing off the buildings. "Attention all citizens! The annual Underground Talent Show is coming up, and we want you to participate! Show off your skills, whether it's singing, dancing, or juggling... or even selling hotdogs!" Sans's eyes widened as he looked at Undyne. "The talent show? I hadn't thought about that in ages." Undyne's grin grew wider. "Ah, perfect timing. I think you should enter, Sans." Sans hesitated, unsure if he was ready for the spotlight. But Undyne's enthusiasm was infectious, and he found himself nodding. "You know what? Yeah, I'll do it." Undyne let out a triumphant whoop, pumping her fist in the air. "That's the spirit! I'll help you come up with an act, and we'll make sure you're the star of the show." As they walked out of the park, Sans couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. What would the talent show bring? And what kind of chaos would Undyne's plans unleash? Only time would tell.
