Sick in the City
Part 2
Peli ushered Din into her hanger, her arms wrapped around his waist as he swayed unsteadily. She led him to a makeshift bed, a pile of worn blankets and a battered old mattress in the corner of the room. Din collapsed onto the bed, his body wracked with shivers and his stomach churning with nausea. Peli fetched him a bowl of water and a damp cloth, gently wiping his face and hands. "You're just sick, Din," she said reassuringly. "You've got a stomach bug, that's all. It's going to pass." Din nodded, but he couldn't shake the feeling of unease. He closed his eyes, letting Peli's gentle ministrations wash over him. As she worked, he felt his body begin to relax, his feverishness and nausea slowly receding. Eventually, exhaustion won out, and Din drifted off to sleep. But his rest was fitful, plagued by dark and twisted nightmares. He thrashed and twisted, his mind racing with visions of Trandoshans and bounty hunters, of Grogu in danger and himself powerless to save him. He woke up with a start, his heart racing and his sheets drenched with sweat. Peli was sitting beside him, a gentle hand on his forehead. "Hey, hey, it's okay," she said softly. "Grogu's fine, he's been sleeping in his incubator. You just need to rest." Din's gaze locked onto Peli's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Then Din's stomach suddenly lurched, and he felt a wave of nausea wash over him. Peli's eyes widened, and she quickly grabbed a nearby bucket, holding it out just in time. Din's body betrayed him, and he vomited into the bucket, his body shuddering with relief. Peli held his head, her voice soft and soothing. "Easy, Din. You're going to get through this. Just rest, and let your body heal." As Din lay back, exhausted and humiliated, Peli handed him a cloth to wipe his face. He took it, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her. He knew he was in her debt, and that she would do everything in her power to take care of him. As he drifted off to sleep once more, Peli sat beside him, watching over him with a look of concern etched on her face. She knew Din Djarin, the infamous bounty hunter, was not one to show weakness. But right now, he was just a sick man, in need of care and compassion. And Peli was determined to give it to him.
