Chapter 4: Return to Arendelle
Part 4
The days passed slowly as Iduna recovered from her ordeal. Gorm and her crew took turns caring for her, feeding her, and keeping her warm. Iduna was grateful for their kindness, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of loss and grief that had settled in her chest. She had survived the shipwreck, but Agnarr had not. The thought of facing her daughters without him by her side was almost too much to bear. Finally, the day arrived when Iduna was well enough to travel. Gorm's husband, a burly man named Erik, helped Iduna onto a small boat that would take her back to Arendelle. As she pushed off from the fishing boat, Iduna felt a mix of emotions: sadness, gratitude, and a sense of trepidation. What would she find in Arendelle? How would her daughters react to her return? The journey back to Arendelle was short, but Iduna's anxiety grew with each passing moment. She had been away for so long, and she didn't know what to expect. As the boat approached the shore, Iduna saw the familiar outline of the castle and the town beyond it. Her heart swelled with a mix of emotions as she took in the sights and sounds of her homeland. The boat docked, and Erik helped Iduna onto dry land. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. As she made her way to the castle, Iduna saw her daughters, Elsa and Anna, standing in the courtyard, their faces filled with worry and concern. "Mother!" Anna exclaimed, rushing to Iduna's side. Elsa followed close behind, her eyes scanning Iduna's face. "Mother, we were so worried about you. We thought...we thought we might have lost you too." Iduna's eyes welled up with tears as she hugged her daughters tightly. "I'm home, my dear ones," she said, her voice shaking. "I'm home, and I'll never leave you again." As they hugged, Iduna felt a sense of peace wash over her. She was home, and she would do everything in her power to protect and care for her daughters. The loss of Agnarr would always be a part of her, but she knew that she had to be strong for Elsa and Anna. As they pulled back, Iduna saw the concern etched on her daughters' faces. "What happened, Mother?" Elsa asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "What happened to Father?" Iduna took a deep breath, preparing herself for the difficult conversation ahead. She knew that she would have to tell her daughters about Agnarr's death, and she steeled herself for the pain and grief that would follow. But for now, she just held them close, grateful to be home with the people she loved. The warm glow of the castle's fireplaces and the sound of familiar voices enveloped Iduna as she entered the palace. She felt a sense of comfort and familiarity, but she knew that nothing would ever be the same again. Agnarr was gone, and she would have to navigate this new reality with her daughters. As they walked into the palace, Iduna saw the servants and guards moving about, their faces somber and concerned. She nodded to them, acknowledging their presence, but she didn't have the energy to speak. She just wanted to be with her daughters, to hold them close and keep them safe. The days that followed were a blur of tears and grief, as Iduna and her daughters mourned the loss of Agnarr. But even in the midst of sorrow, Iduna found comfort in the love and support of her family. She knew that she would always carry Agnarr's memory with her, but she also knew that she had to be strong for Elsa and Anna. As the sun set on Arendelle, Iduna looked out at the frozen fjord, her heart heavy with grief. But she also felt a sense of determination, a sense that she would do everything in her power to protect and care for her daughters. She would face whatever challenges lay ahead, armed with the love and support of her family. And as she stood there, surrounded by the people and the place she loved, Iduna knew that she would be okay. She would survive, for herself, for Agnarr, and for her daughters.
