**Chapter 1: Warming Up**

Part 1

The bright lights of the theatre cast a warm glow over the familiar faces of the Shoot From The Hip improv group. Luke Manning adjusted his patterned shirt, giving a nod to Tom Mayo, who was sipping on a water bottle, his dark shirt a stark contrast to Tom's usual dress pants and dark tops. AJ, sporting his signature track pants and a bright yellow shirt, bounced into the room, nearly colliding with Sam Russell, who was leaning against the wall, his red flannel shirt a beacon of his presence. "Alright, guys, let's get started," Luke said, clapping his hands together. "We've got a show to do tonight." The group began their warm-up exercises, easy banter and playful jabs flowing freely. Sam launched into an impressive goat impersonation, complete with bleats and hoof gestures, leaving AJ in stitches. Tom rolled his eyes good-naturedly, shaking his head. As they warmed up, Luke couldn't help but steal glances at Sam. He'd had a crush on his friend for what felt like an eternity, but had never mustered the courage to say anything. Sam, on the other hand, seemed oblivious to Luke's affections, treating him with the same easy camaraderie he reserved for the rest of the group. As they moved into more structured games, Luke found himself paired with Sam for a round of "Yes, And..." Their scene began with a simple premise: two old friends reuniting at a coffee shop. Luke played the straight-laced, type-A friend, while Sam took on the role of the charming slacker. The scene progressed smoothly, with Luke feeding Sam lines and Sam responding with his signature quick wit. But as they played, Luke caught himself getting lost in Sam's eyes, his heart skipping a beat as their gazes met. After the scene, AJ bounded over to them, grinning. "You guys killed it! I'm stealing that coffee shop bit for my next show." Sam chuckled, ruffling AJ's hair. "You're welcome to it, kiddo. Just don't forget to give us credit." As they wrapped up their warm-ups, Luke caught Tom's eye, who raised an eyebrow in a silent question. Luke just shrugged, unsure of how to process his feelings. The group began to file out of the theatre, chatting and laughing. Luke fell into step beside Sam, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence. "You ready for tonight?" Luke asked, trying to sound casual. Sam nodded, his eyes sparkling. "Born ready. Let's go crush it." As they walked out of the theatre, Luke couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. Little did he know, tonight was going to be a lot more interesting than he'd anticipated.
