The Ominous Summons

Part 273

Momo led me through the winding corridors of the League's hideout, her pace quick and nervous. I followed closely behind her, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. What did Shigaraki want with me? Had I done something wrong? The questions swirled in my head as we walked, my heart pounding in my chest. As we turned a corner, Momo stopped in front of a door and turned to face me. "We're here," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves, and nodded. The door was slightly ajar, and Momo pushed it open with a hesitant hand. I stepped forward, my eyes scanning the room before I entered. The room was dimly lit, the only sound the soft hum of a machine in the corner. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door, trying to appear calm despite the fear that was growing inside me. As I stepped inside, my eyes landed on Shigaraki, who was sitting behind a large desk, a look of intense focus on his face. Dabi was standing beside him, his eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I forced a smile, trying to appear nonchalant. "Ah, Vesper-chan," Shigaraki said, his voice low and menacing. "Thank you for coming. Please, come in." I nodded, trying to play it cool, and stepped further into the room. Dabi's eyes never left mine, and I could feel his gaze like a weight on my skin. I tried to ignore him, focusing instead on Shigaraki. "So, what did you want to see me about, Shigaraki-sensei?" I asked, trying to sound casual. Shigaraki leaned back in his chair, a sly smile spreading across his face. "I've been thinking," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "I've been thinking about your... unique abilities. And I think I've come up with a way for you to prove your worth to the League." My heart sank, and I felt a sense of foreboding wash over me. What did he have planned for me? And how was I going to get out of it alive?
