Reckless Reflections
Part 10
The days that followed the intervention were a blur for Tracy. She had pushed everyone away, including the people who cared about her the most. Melanie and Mason were at a loss for what to do, their attempts to reach her met with resistance and hostility. Ariah, too, felt helpless, watching her friend spiral out of control. As the tension in the house grew thicker, Ariah found herself seeking refuge in Mason's presence. They would often find themselves alone in the house, Mason trying to make sense of the situation, and Ariah trying to make sense of her own feelings. She had developed a crush on Mason, but she knew it was wrong. She was friends with Evie, and Mason was her friend's brother. But as they spent more time together, Ariah realized that her feelings for Mason went beyond friendship. She wasn't sure when it had started, but she couldn't deny it anymore. And to her surprise, Mason seemed to feel the same way. One night, as they sat on the couch, watching TV, Mason turned to her and asked, "Ariah, can I talk to you about something?" His eyes locked onto hers, and she felt a flutter in her chest. "Of course, Mason," she replied, trying to sound calm. "I know this might sound weird, but I've been feeling really drawn to you lately," he said, his voice low and husky. "I know it's wrong, and I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable." Ariah's heart skipped a beat. She had been feeling the same way, but she had been too afraid to say anything. "I've been feeling it too," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. Mason's eyes lit up with surprise, and then he leaned in, his lips brushing against hers. It was a gentle kiss, but it sent shivers down Ariah's spine. As they pulled away, Ariah knew that they had crossed a line. They were taking a risk, but they couldn't help how they felt. Meanwhile, Tracy was still spiraling out of control. She was skipping school, and spending more and more time with Evie and Astrid. Melanie and Mason were worried sick about her, but they didn't know what to do. Ariah knew that she had to do something, but she didn't know where to start. She talked to Mason, and they came up with a plan to try and reach Tracy. They would stage another intervention, but this time, they would do it differently. They would be more prepared, and they would have a plan in place to help Tracy get the help she needed. As they worked on their plan, Ariah and Mason's relationship continued to blossom. They would steal kisses in the hallway, and hold hands when they thought no one was looking. But they knew that their relationship was a secret, and that it could put their friendship with Tracy at risk. They were taking a chance, but they couldn't help how they felt. The night before the intervention, Ariah and Mason sat on the couch, holding hands. They were nervous, but they knew they had to do this. "We're going to get through this, together," Mason said, his eyes locked onto Ariah's. Ariah nodded, feeling a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could save Tracy from herself. The next day, they put their plan into action. They gathered Melanie, and Mason's friends, and they went to Tracy's school. They found her sitting on a bench, looking lost and alone. "Tracy, we love you," Melanie said, tears streaming down her face. "We want to help you." Tracy looked up, her eyes flashing with anger. But then, she saw Ariah and Mason, standing together, holding hands. And for a moment, she looked lost. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know what's wrong with me." Ariah and Mason exchanged a look, and then they pulled Tracy into a hug. "We're here for you," Ariah said. "We're going to get through this, together."
