Chapter 19: A Sudden Turn of Events
Part 19
As Ashley walked into their house, she felt a sudden urge to use the bathroom, and quickly excused herself, making her way to the bathroom as fast as she could. She locked the door behind her and sat down on the toilet, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. But as she sat there, she started to feel a growing pressure in her abdomen, and before she knew it, a sharp pain shot through her. The pain was intense, and Ashley felt like she was gasping for air. She clutched her stomach, trying to ride out the wave of discomfort. But the pain only intensified, and she felt like she was losing control. The next minute felt like an eternity, and Ashley's body started to respond to the pressure. She felt a gush, as if a dam had burst inside her. Ashley's eyes widened in shock as she realized that her water had broken. Panic set in as she quickly got up from the toilet and made her way to the sink, grabbing some towels to try and stem the flow. But it was no use, the liquid just kept coming. "Avan!" she called out, her voice shaking with fear. "Avan, I need you!" She heard the door burst open, and Avan rushed into the bathroom, concern etched on his face. "Ash, what's happening? What's wrong?" Ashley couldn't speak, she was too busy trying to process what was happening. She just pointed to her stomach, and Avan's eyes widened in understanding. "Your water broke," he said, his voice calm and reassuring. "We need to get you to the hospital, now." Ashley nodded, still in shock. She had been preparing for this moment for months, but nothing could have prepared her for the suddenness of it all. Avan quickly grabbed some towels and helped her clean up, before scooping her up in his arms and rushing her out of the house. As they sped to the hospital, Ashley couldn't help but wonder what was happening, and what the next few hours would bring. Was she going into labor? And what did this mean for her and her baby? The uncertainty was scary, but with Avan by her side, she felt a sense of calm wash over her. The drive to the hospital seemed to take an eternity, but finally, they pulled up to the entrance. Avan quickly carried Ashley inside, and they were greeted by a flurry of activity. Nurses and doctors rushed around them, asking questions and checking Ashley's vitals. Ashley felt like she was in a whirlwind, but Avan's calm presence kept her grounded. He held her hand, his eyes never leaving hers, as they rushed her into a room. "What's happening?" Ashley asked one of the nurses, trying to get some answers. "You're going into labor," the nurse replied with a smile. "And it looks like you're progressing quickly. We'll get you settled in and get the doctor in to check you out." Ashley's heart was racing, but she felt a sense of excitement mixed with fear. She was having her baby, and there was no turning back now.
