"Lost in the Moment"
Part 10
The music pulsed through my body, making it feel like my heart was racing in time with the beat. I was drunk, and I knew it, but I didn't care. I was having the time of my life, dancing with Alex and our friends at the frat party. But as I spun around, my eyes landed on a familiar face across the room - Jace. I stumbled away from Alex, my feet moving of their own accord. I didn't know what I was doing, but I felt drawn to Jace like a magnet. As I reached him, I grabbed his arm, my fingers wrapping around his like a vice. "Jace," I slurred, my voice barely above a whisper. "You're so... so... hot." Jace's eyes narrowed, his gaze scanning my face. "Lila, maybe you should sit down," he said, his voice low and smooth. But I shook my head, my ponytail whipping back and forth. "No, no, I'm fine," I said, my voice rising. "I just... I just want to tell you something." Jace raised an eyebrow, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "What is it?" he asked, his voice cautious. I leaned in close, my lips brushing against his ear. "You turn me on," I whispered, my voice husky. "So much." Jace's eyes flashed with surprise, and for a moment, I thought I saw something else there too - desire. But then his expression hardened, and he pulled back. "Lila, I think you've had too much to drink," he said, his voice firm. I shook my head, feeling a surge of anger. "No, I'm fine," I repeated, my voice rising. "I mean it, Jace. You have no idea how much I... I... want you." The music and laughter around us seemed to fade into the background as Jace's eyes locked onto mine. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us palpable. Then, Jace's expression softened, and he reached out, his fingers brushing against my cheek. "Lila, sweetheart," he said, his voice low and husky. "You need to go back to Alex. He's looking for you." I followed his gaze, and my eyes landed on Alex, his face etched with concern. I stumbled towards him, feeling a pang of guilt and regret. As I reached him, he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his voice worried. I nodded, feeling a wave of shame wash over me. What had I just done? And why had I felt so drawn to Jace? As I looked up at Alex, I knew I had some explaining to do. But for now, I just smiled, and let him lead me away from the temptation that was Jace.
