"Smoke and Confessions"
Part 12
I walked into our apartment, dropping my bag on the floor as I made my way to the kitchen to grab a water from the fridge. As I opened the door, I was surprised to see Ethan sitting on the couch, his laptop open in front of him. We hadn't talked much since the whole Alex and Jace situation, and I felt a pang of guilt for ignoring him. "Hey, man," I said, trying to sound casual. Ethan looked up, a hint of a smile on his face. "Hey, Lila. How was your day?" I shrugged, taking a seat next to him on the couch. "It was fine. Just a lot of classes and stuff." Ethan nodded, his eyes drifting back to his laptop. "I'm sure it's been tough with everything going on." I raised an eyebrow, curious about what he was referring to. But before I could ask, there was a knock at the door. "That must be Jace," Ethan said, his voice neutral. I felt a spark of surprise. Jace was coming to visit Ethan? I hadn't seen him since our encounter in the lecture hall, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Ethan got up to answer the door, and I followed him, curiosity getting the better of me. When Ethan opened the door, Jace was standing there, a cigarette dangling from his lips. "Hey, man," Jace said, nodding at Ethan. Ethan smiled, stepping aside to let Jace in. "Hey, Jace. Come on in." As Jace walked into the apartment, his eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body. He didn't seem surprised to see me, and I wondered if he had known I lived here all along. Jace took a seat on the couch, and Ethan handed him a beer from the fridge. I sat back down next to Ethan, feeling a little awkward. As we sat there, Jace pulled out a pack of cigarettes and offered one to Ethan. I reached out, taking a cigarette from the pack, and Jace lit it for me. "Thanks," I said, taking a drag. The smoke filled my lungs, and I felt a sense of relaxation wash over me. Jace was sitting close to me, his thigh brushing against mine, and I couldn't help but feel a spark of attraction. "I meant what I said last night," I said, my voice low and husky. Jace turned to me, his eyes locked onto mine. "What did you say?" I took another drag of the cigarette, feeling a sense of boldness. "I said I want to fuck you." Jace's expression didn't change, but I saw a flicker of something in his eyes. He looked away, taking a drag of his own cigarette. Ethan was sitting there, watching us with a curious expression, but he didn't say anything. It was like he was giving us space, letting us navigate this situation. As we sat there, smoking and not saying much, I felt a sense of comfort with Jace that I hadn't felt before. It was like we were sharing a secret, something that only we understood. And as the night wore on, I realized that I was in trouble. I was attracted to Jace, and I wasn't sure if I could ignore it.
