"Electricity in the Air"
Part 8
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked him, my voice barely above a whisper, as I tried to read his expression. Adrian's eyes seemed to gleam with amusement, and he raised an eyebrow, his smile growing wider. "Just that I can handle a little tipsiness," he said, his voice still low and husky, his hands still on my waist. "You're not exactly falling apart, but you're definitely... unsteady." I nodded, feeling a little silly, but also a little intrigued. What was he getting at? Was he just being friendly, or was there something more to his words? I tried to take a step back, but Adrian's grip on my waist tightened, holding me in place. "I think you should sit down," he said, his eyes never leaving mine. "You're not exactly stable right now." I nodded again, feeling a little grateful for his concern. Maybe I was a little more drunk than I thought. Adrian led me over to the patio furniture, and we sat down on a comfortable-looking couch, the cushions enveloping me in softness. As we sat there, Adrian reached out and took a strand of my hair, twirling it around his finger. It was a gentle touch, but it sent shivers down my spine. I looked up at him, trying to read his expression, but he just smiled and leaned in close. "You know, cuz," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, "I've always thought you were really beautiful." My heart skipped a beat as I met his gaze. Was he serious? I couldn't quite tell, but I knew one thing - I was excited to find out. I felt a flutter in my chest, and my skin prickled with awareness. I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out. Adrian's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, and he leaned in closer, his face inches from mine. "Maybe I should take care of you tonight," he said, his breath warm on my skin. "Make sure you get home safe and sound." I nodded, feeling a little breathless, my heart racing with anticipation. What was he proposing? And was I ready to take the leap?
