New Horizons

Part 18

Months had passed since that fateful night when Ashley and Ethan first met, and their relationship had blossomed into something beautiful. They had spent countless nights exploring the city, laughing together, and getting to know each other's quirks and habits. Ashley had never felt this way about anyone before, and she couldn't help but feel grateful to have Ethan in her life. As their relationship continued to grow, Ashley knew it was time to introduce Ethan to the most important person in her life - her son, Ender. She had been a bit apprehensive about how Ender would react, but she was confident that Ethan would win him over with his kind heart and gentle nature. The day of the introduction arrived, and Ashley's nerves were on edge. She had told Ender all about Ethan, but she wasn't sure how he would take to him in person. As they walked into the park where Ethan was waiting, Ender's eyes scanned the area, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. When he spotted Ethan, he hesitated, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in Ethan's appearance. Ashley knelt down beside Ender, trying to reassure him. "Hey buddy, this is Ethan. We've been spending a lot of time together, and I wanted you to meet him." Ender looked up at her, his expression unreadable. Ethan knelt down, his eyes locked on Ender's. "Hey there, Ender. It's great to finally meet you." Ender didn't respond, instead choosing to stare at Ethan with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. Ashley tried to intervene, but Ender was having none of it. He clung to her leg, his eyes fixed on Ethan as if daring him to come closer. Ethan smiled and held out his hand, trying to coax Ender out of his shell. But Ender was stubborn, and he refused to budge. As the days went by, Ender's resistance to Ethan's presence only grew stronger. He would sulk and pout whenever Ethan came over, and Ashley began to worry that she had made a mistake introducing them. But Ethan was patient, and he continued to try and win Ender over, even when it seemed like a lost cause. Ashley was torn between her love for Ethan and her concern for Ender's well-being. She didn't want to push Ender to accept Ethan if he wasn't ready, but at the same time, she didn't want to jeopardize her relationship with Ethan. As she navigated this delicate situation, Ashley started to feel a strange sensation in her stomach. She had been feeling nauseous for a few days, and at first, she had brushed it off as stress or a side effect of eating too much. But as the days went by, the nausea only grew worse, and Ashley began to suspect that something else might be going on. One morning, as she was getting ready for work, Ashley realized that her period was late. She couldn't remember the last time she had gotten it, and a wave of panic washed over her. Could she be pregnant? Ashley's mind was racing as she tried to process the possibility. She had been careful, but accidents could happen, and she couldn't deny the symptoms she was experiencing. She made a mental note to take a pregnancy test as soon as possible, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and fear. Little did she know, her life was about to change in ways she never could have imagined.
