The Big Reveal

Part 15

The room was electric with anticipation as Avan, Ashley, and their families gathered around the large, blue and pink balloon that sat atop a table in the living room. The balloon was tied with a bright ribbon, and a small note attached to it read "Boy or Girl?" in bold letters. Ashley's mom, dad, Avan's parents, and even Avan himself were all chatting excitedly, speculating about the sex of the baby. Ashley, meanwhile, stood quietly, her eyes fixed on the balloon. She felt a mix of emotions: excitement, nervousness, and a deep-seated desire for a boy. As they all waited for the big moment, Ashley's mind began to wander. She thought about all the things she had been dreaming of: a little boy to play catch with, to teach how to ride a bike, to share her love of sports with. She thought about the nursery she had set up, with its blue walls and adorable baseball-themed decorations. Deep inside, Ashley prayed for a boy. She knew it wasn't rational, that she would love her child no matter what, but she couldn't help feeling a strong connection to the idea of having a son. Avan, sensing her gaze, turned to her and smiled. "You okay?" he asked, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Ashley nodded, feeling a little shy. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said. "Just a little nervous, I guess." Avan took her hand in his, giving it a squeeze. "It's going to be okay," he said. "No matter what, we'll be amazing parents." Ashley's mom, who was standing on the other side of her, put a hand on her shoulder. "We're all so excited," she said. "We're going to love this baby no matter what." As they all continued to wait, the tension in the room grew. Finally, Avan's dad spoke up. "Okay, let's get this show on the road!" he exclaimed, picking up a pin that was lying on the table. Ashley's heart skipped a beat as Avan's dad held the pin up, poised to pop the balloon. Ashley closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and prepared for the big reveal. "Here we go," Avan's dad said, and with a quick jab, the pin popped the balloon, sending blue and pink confetti flying everywhere. As the confetti settled, Ashley opened her eyes to see a blue ribbon floating down from the balloon, and a small piece of paper that read "It's a...". Everyone held their breath as they waited for the rest of the message to be revealed. "It's a boy!" Avan's mom exclaimed, as the room erupted in cheers and applause. Ashley felt a rush of joy and excitement, mixed with a little relief. She had gotten her wish, and she couldn't wait to meet her little boy. Avan grinned at her, his eyes shining with happiness. "We're having a boy," he said, his voice full of wonder. Ashley smiled back, feeling her heart overflow with love. "We sure are," she said, and the two of them shared a kiss as their families cheered and congratulated them.
