"A Newfound Solace"
Part 68
As the days passed, Kageyama found himself spending more and more time with Hinata, and it was as if the world around him had come alive with a new vibrancy. The tranquil lake they had visited became a regular haunt for them, a place where they could escape the pressures of their daily lives and just be. They would sit on the dock, watching the sun set over the water, and talk about nothing and everything. Hinata's calm and gentle nature was a balm to Kageyama's frazzled nerves, and he found himself feeling more at peace than he had in months. He began to open up to Hinata in ways he never thought possible, sharing his fears and doubts, and listening as Hinata offered words of encouragement and support. The sound of the water lapping against the shore and the sweet scent of blooming flowers created a sense of serenity that seemed to seep into Kageyama's very being. But despite the growing closeness between them, Kageyama couldn't shake the feeling that he was being pulled in two different directions. Oikawa, his former captain and friend, had been making an effort to spend more time with him, and Kageyama wasn't sure how to react. He remembered the way Oikawa's eyes seemed to gleam with a competitive spark, the way his voice was laced with a quiet intensity. At first, it was just small things - Oikawa would show up at the gym, watching Kageyama's practice with a keen eye, and offering words of advice and criticism. But as the days turned into weeks, Oikawa's visits became more frequent, and Kageyama found himself looking forward to them. He began to notice the way Oikawa's hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck, the way his smile seemed to light up the entire room. Hinata noticed the change in Kageyama, and he raised an eyebrow as Oikawa appeared at the gym yet again. "You're spending a lot of time with him, aren't you?" Hinata said, his voice neutral. Kageyama felt a twinge of guilt, but he pushed it aside. He wasn't sure what was going on, or why he felt drawn to Oikawa's presence, but he couldn't deny the connection he felt. "I don't know," Kageyama said, shrugging. "He just shows up, and we talk." Hinata's eyes searched his face, but Kageyama couldn't read his expression. As Oikawa approached them, a confident smile on his face, Kageyama felt a sense of unease. What was he getting himself into? And why did he feel like he was being pulled in two different directions, towards two people who represented different parts of himself? He glanced at Hinata, who was watching him with a calm, gentle gaze, and then at Oikawa, whose eyes seemed to sparkle with a fierce intensity. The three of them stood there for a moment, the tension between them palpable. Kageyama knew that he had to make a choice, but he wasn't sure which path to take. All he knew was that he needed time, and a chance to figure out what he truly wanted. As Oikawa began to talk, his voice weaving a spell of confidence and determination, Kageyama felt himself getting drawn in. He glanced at Hinata, who was listening with a thoughtful expression, and then back at Oikawa. The seed of doubt had been planted, and Kageyama couldn't shake the feeling that his relationships with both Oikawa and Hinata were about to change in ways he couldn't yet imagine.
