Unraveling the Mystery

Part 2

"Where were you when you saw her?" Korra asked, her eyes locked onto the young woman who had spoken up earlier. The woman, whose name tag read "Emily," hesitated before responding. "I was at my desk, in the marketing department," Emily said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Asami came by to grab some papers from the printer. She mentioned she had a meeting with a potential investor and was running a bit late." Korra's gaze narrowed. "Did you see her leave the building?" Emily shook her head. "No, like I said, I didn't. But I assumed she went to the meeting. She seemed... distracted, I guess. Not her usual self." Mako, standing nearby, scribbled some notes on a pad of paper. Korra noticed and nodded for him to continue. "Can you describe her mood in more detail?" Mako asked, his eyes fixed on Emily. Emily thought for a moment. "She was a bit... preoccupied. Not really paying attention to her surroundings. I've seen her like that before when she's working on a big project, but this seemed different. Like something was weighing on her mind." Korra's eyes sparkled with interest. "Did she mention anything specific that might have been bothering her?" Emily hesitated, glancing nervously at her colleagues before responding in a hushed tone. "She mentioned something about... a problem with one of their projects. I don't know what it was, but it seemed to be bothering her a lot." Korra's mind was racing. A problem with one of Future Industries' projects could be a motive for Asami's disappearance. She made a mental note to look into the company's current projects and see if anything seemed suspicious. "Mako, can you check on the company's project files?" Korra asked, her eyes still fixed on Emily. "See if anything seems off or if there were any disputes or issues that might have led to Asami's disappearance." Mako nodded and pulled out his comms device, starting to scroll through the files. Korra turned back to Emily. "Is there anything else you remember about Asami's behavior that day?" Emily thought for a moment before responding. "She was acting strange when she came back to get the papers. She seemed... nervous, I guess. Kept looking over her shoulder." Korra's grip on her bending staff tightened. Someone had been watching Asami, and Korra was determined to find out who.
