"Desperate Measures"
Part 5
Desperate Measures Nick Robinson sat beside Sabrina's hospital bed, his eyes fixed on her pale face as the machines beeping around her seemed to grow louder and more insistent. It had been days since she slipped into a coma, and the doctors had given him little hope of her recovery. He had been by her side every step of the way, holding her hand and willing her to wake up, but so far, there had been no response. As he looked at Sabrina's still form, Nick felt a wave of despair wash over him. He had never felt so helpless in his life. He had always been the strong one, the one who took charge and fixed things, but now he was at a loss. He didn't know what to do or how to make things better. The hospital room was quiet, the only sound the beeping of the machines and the soft hum of the fluorescent lights overhead. Nick's eyes wandered around the room, taking in the sterile white walls and the narrow bedside table. He had spent so many hours in this room, sitting beside Sabrina, talking to her, and holding her hand. He thought back to the day she was brought to the hospital, and how his world had been turned upside down. He had been so angry with Samantha, and now he just felt sad. Sad that it had come to this, sad that Sabrina was paying the price for Samantha's jealousy. As the hours ticked by, Nick's thoughts turned to the what-ifs. What if he had been more careful? What if he had protected Sabrina better? What if he had been more attentive to her needs? The questions swirled in his mind, making him feel guilty and anxious. The doctor came into the room, his face somber. "Mr. Robinson, we've run some more tests, and we're still not seeing any improvement. I'm afraid we're running out of options." Nick's heart sank as he looked at Sabrina. He couldn't lose her. He wouldn't survive without her. He felt a lump form in his throat as he thought about a life without her by his side. The doctor continued to explain the situation, but Nick's mind was elsewhere. He was thinking about desperate measures, about anything that could be done to save Sabrina. He was willing to try anything, no matter how small the chance of success. As the doctor left the room, Nick made a decision. He would do whatever it took to save Sabrina, even if it meant going against the doctors' advice. He would fight for her, with every ounce of strength he had. With newfound determination, Nick stood up and began to pace around the room. He would find a way to save Sabrina, no matter what it took. He would not give up on her, not now, not ever.
