"Into the Unknown"
Part 2
Ashley's world was a blur as she was rushed off stage and into the waiting ambulance, the sirens blaring as it sped through the crowded streets of Los Angeles. Dominic was by her side, holding her hand and talking to her, but she couldn't respond, her body still reeling from the shock of her fall. As they arrived at the hospital, Ashley was whisked away to the emergency room, her vitals being taken by the medical staff. Dominic paced anxiously outside her room, waiting for news from the doctors. Finally, a harried-looking doctor emerged, his face grave with concern. "Mr. Harrison, I'm afraid Ashley has suffered a severe concussion and possible traumatic brain injury. We're going to need to run some tests to determine the extent of her injuries." Dominic's face went white with worry. "How long will she be out?" he asked, his voice shaking. The doctor hesitated before responding. "It's difficult to say at this point. We'll need to monitor her closely and run some further tests, but...there's a possibility that she may be out for an extended period of time." Dominic felt like he'd been punched in the gut. He couldn't imagine a world without Ashley by his side, her bright smile and infectious laugh a constant source of inspiration for him. As he sat down beside her hospital bed, taking her hand in his, he felt a wave of despair wash over him. What if she didn't wake up? What if she wasn't okay? Ashley's face was pale and bruised, her eyes swollen shut. Dominic gently brushed a strand of hair out of her face, his heart aching with worry. Just then, the hospital room door opened and a police officer entered, his notebook and pen at the ready. "Mr. Harrison, I'm Officer Johnson from the LAPD. I'm here to take a statement about the incident on stage tonight." Dominic's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. "What do you mean? What happened?" The officer hesitated before responding. "From what we've gathered, it appears that Ashley's fall may not have been an accident. We're looking into the possibility of foul play." Dominic's eyes widened in shock. Foul play? What did that even mean? He felt a chill run down his spine as he thought about all the people who might want to hurt Ashley. The officer continued, "We'll need to review the security footage and interview any witnesses who may have seen something. In the meantime, I recommend that you cooperate fully with our investigation." As the officer left, Dominic's mind was racing with questions and fears. Who could have done this to Ashley? And why? He looked down at Ashley's still form, his heart heavy with worry. He would do everything in his power to find out what had happened to her, and to make sure that she was safe.
