**Into the Unknown**
Part 3
Alice walked out of Gwen's office feeling like she had just been handed a challenge that she couldn't wait to take on. The folder full of papers felt heavy in her hands, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement as she flipped through them. The case was a mysterious one, with few details and even fewer leads. But that was exactly what Alice was looking for. As she walked back to her desk, she couldn't help but feel like Gwen was watching her, her eyes lingering on her every move. She smiled to herself, feeling a flutter in her chest. She had a feeling that this case was going to be more than just a simple investigation. It was going to be a test of her skills, and she was more than up for it. The rest of the day flew by in a blur as Alice poured over the case files, looking for any clue that might lead her to the truth. She made a few phone calls, spoke to a few witnesses, and by the end of the day, she had a few leads to follow. As the sun began to set, Alice decided to pay a visit to the woman who had made the original report. She lived on the outskirts of the city, in a small apartment complex that seemed to be nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Alice took a deep breath as she knocked on the door, feeling a sense of anticipation building inside her. The door opened, and a nervous-looking woman stood before her. "Can I help you?" she asked, her eyes darting back and forth. "Ms. Jenkins?" Alice asked, consulting the papers in her hand. "I'm Alice Dyer, from the office. I'm here to discuss your report." The woman nodded, stepping aside to let Alice in. As she entered, Alice couldn't help but notice the fear in the woman's eyes. It was a look she had seen before, a look that said the woman was scared, and scared for a reason. "What did you see?" Alice asked, pulling out her notebook and pen. The woman hesitated, glancing around the room as if she was afraid of being overheard. "I was walking home from work," she began, her voice barely above a whisper. "It was around 9pm. I saw something... I don't know how to describe it. It was tall, with eyes that glowed like embers. It was watching me, I could feel it." Alice's eyes widened as she scribbled down some notes. "Did you see where it went?" she asked, her voice full of excitement. The woman nodded, her eyes wide with fear. "It went into the woods. I've lived here my whole life, and I've never seen anything like it." As Alice left the apartment complex, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She glanced over her shoulder, but there was no one there. Shrugging it off, she made her way back to her car, her mind racing with possibilities. She spent the rest of the evening driving through the city, searching for any sign of the creature. The streets were empty, and the only sound was the hum of her engine and the beat of her heart. She felt alive, and she knew that this case was going to be one for the books. As she turned a corner, she caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of her eye. She slammed on the brakes, her heart racing. But when she turned to look, there was no one there. Alice took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She was getting close to something, she could feel it. And she was determined to see it through. The drive back to her apartment was a blur, her mind racing with possibilities. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched, and the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end. As she walked into her apartment, she noticed a piece of paper on her desk. It was a note, scribbled in hasty handwriting. "Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight. Come alone." Alice's eyes widened as she read the note, a spark of excitement igniting within her. She had a feeling that this case was going to get a lot more interesting.
