The Unspoken Truth

Part 31

The living room was filled with the usual chatter and laughter as ITZY spent a lazy Sunday afternoon together. Ryujin and Yeji were sitting on the couch, trying to blend in with the rest of the group, but it was clear that they were on edge. Chaeryeong and Lia were sprawled out on the floor, engaged in a heated game of cards, while Yuna was busy reading a book on the armchair. As the conversation flowed, Chaeryeong suddenly looked up and said, "Hey, have you guys noticed that Ryujin and Yeji have been acting really weird lately?" Lia raised an eyebrow, and Yuna looked up from her book, interest piqued. "What do you mean?" Lia asked, her voice laced with curiosity. Chaeryeong shrugged. "They just seem really quiet and reserved. They're not as affectionate with each other as they used to be." Yeji's eyes flicked to Ryujin, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Ryujin tried to brush it off, but Yeji's gaze was intense. Yuna spoke up, her voice casual. "I almost caught them kissing in that alleyway the other day. But apparently, they were just, uh, method acting for their fake dating contract." The room fell silent, and all eyes were on Ryujin and Yeji. The two girls exchanged a quick glance, and Ryujin forced a laugh. "Oh, yeah, we were just getting into character." The group didn't press too hard, but it was clear that they were all onto Ryujin and Yeji's act. The tension in the room was palpable, and Ryujin and Yeji's attempts to seem nonchalant only made it more obvious that something was off. As the afternoon wore on, the group began to disperse, and Ryujin and Yeji retreated to their shared room. They sat in silence, each pretending to scroll through their phones, but the air was thick with unspoken words. Finally, Yeji broke the silence. "Do you think they believe us?" Ryujin's response was dry. "Nope." Yeji looked up, and they shared a brief, awkward laugh. The tension between them was almost unbearable, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. The silence that followed was oppressive, and Ryujin could feel the weight of Yeji's gaze on her. She knew that they couldn't keep up this charade for much longer. Eventually, the truth would come out, and they would have to face the consequences. As they sat there, frozen in time, Ryujin couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them. Would they be able to keep their secret hidden, or would it tear them apart? Only time would tell.
