The Chain Reaction

Part 5

I leaned in, my eyes locked on Elizabeth's as I tried to read her expression. "I'm with you," I said finally, my voice firm. "But I need to know more about what's going on. Which Link do you think might disappear next?" Elizabeth's grin returned, and she leaned in, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "That's a good question, Iris. I've been analyzing the patterns, and I think it's only a matter of time before another Link vanishes." As she spoke, her phone buzzed on the coffee table. She picked it up, her eyes scanning the screen, and her expression turned serious. "It seems we have an update," she said, her voice low. I felt a surge of excitement mixed with concern. "What is it?" I asked, my heart racing. Elizabeth's eyes met mine, and she began to recite the information on her phone. "Three more individuals named Link have gone missing from existing universes. The first one is Link Inchausti from the TV show 'Westworld'. He's a skilled programmer and a key member of the park's technical team." I nodded, my mind racing with the implications. "What about the second one?" I asked. Elizabeth's voice was serious. "The second one is Linka Lumen from the comic book series 'Starfire'. She's a powerful superhero with the ability to control light and energy." I felt a shiver run down my spine as I processed the information. Two more Links had vanished, and I couldn't help but wonder about the third one. Elizabeth's eyes sparkled with amusement as she looked at me. "And now, Iris, it's your turn to play detective. The third Link is a male, but his first name is not very common for a male. Can you guess who it might be?" I furrowed my brow, trying to think of any Links that might fit the description. But Elizabeth's hint was vague, and I knew I had to think outside the box. I took a deep breath, my mind racing with possibilities. "Is it... Linkoln?" I ventured, my voice unsure. Elizabeth's expression was unreadable, and she didn't respond immediately. I held my breath, waiting for her reaction. Finally, she spoke, her voice low and mysterious. "Let's just say, Iris, that you're on the right track. But I'll reveal more information later. For now, let's focus on understanding the pattern behind these disappearances." I nodded, my mind reeling with questions. Who was the third Link, and what was the connection between them? I knew I had to trust Elizabeth and follow her lead, but I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story than she was letting on.
