Chapter 88: A Sudden Silence
Part 88
The air was thick with anticipation as I stood there, my heart racing with anxiety. Deku's eyes never left mine, his expression a mix of understanding and concern. The others seemed to be holding their breath, waiting for me to say something else, to clarify or explain further. But I couldn't. I was spent. My legs gave out beneath me, and I felt myself falling. Before I could hit the ground, Mina rushed to my side, catching me in her arms. "Vesper!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with worry. I tried to speak, to reassure her that I was okay, but my body seemed to have a different plan. Everything went dark, and I felt myself slipping away. When I came to, I was lying on a soft surface, my head throbbing with a dull ache. Mina was sitting beside me, her eyes fixed on me with concern. The others were nowhere to be seen, but I could hear their muffled voices in the distance. Mina smiled weakly when she saw me stirring. "Hey, you're awake," she said, her voice soft. I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me, forcing me back onto the pillow. Mina gently pushed me back down, her hands on my shoulders. "Okkk, that's all for today, I guess we'll continue this tomorrow," Mina said, trying to sound casual, but her eyes betrayed her worry. I could see the concern etched on her face, and I knew she was scared. She was scared for me, and about what could happen next. I tried to reassure her with a smile, but it felt forced. As I lay there, I couldn't help but wonder what tomorrow would bring. Would they understand me? Would they accept me for who I was? The uncertainty swirled in my stomach, making my anxiety spike. Mina's eyes never left mine, and I knew she was waiting for me to say something, to reassure her that everything would be okay. But I couldn't. All I could do was lie there, and hope that tomorrow would be a better day.
