New World, New Rules
Part 1
Angela slowly opened her eyes, groggily taking in her surroundings. She was in a hospital, but it was eerily quiet. The beeping of machines and the soft hum of fluorescent lights were the only sounds she could hear. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her head, making her wince. As she lay back down, she noticed that her room was empty except for her. She gingerly swung her legs over the side of the bed and planted her feet firmly on the ground. The cold floor made her toes curl, and she shivered. A quick glance around the room revealed that she was alone, and a sense of unease crept over her. Angela tentatively stood up, holding onto the bed for support. Her head spun, but she took a few deep breaths and steadied herself. She looked out the window, and what she saw made her heart skip a beat. The streets were chaotic, with people running wildly and cars crashed into buildings. The sounds of screams and shattering glass filled the air. She stumbled towards the door, her eyes fixed on the chaos outside. As she reached the door, she pushed it open and was met with an empty hallway. The hospital was deserted, and a chill ran down her spine. Angela took a deep breath and stepped out into the unknown. She had to find out what was happening and where she could go for safety. Her eyes scanned the hallway, and she spotted a sign that read "Emergency Exit." She made her way towards it, her heart pounding in her chest. As she pushed open the door, she was hit with a blast of cool air and the sounds of chaos. The streets were in disarray, with debris scattered everywhere and the sounds of groaning and screams filling the air. Angela's eyes widened as she took in the scene before her. People were attacking each other, and some were...different. Their skin was pale, and their eyes had a milky white film over them. They moved slowly, but with a purpose, as if they were hunting for prey. Angela's mind reeled as she realized that something was very wrong. She took a step back, her eyes fixed on the horrors before her. A hand grasped her shoulder, making her jump. Angela spun around, ready to defend herself, but there was no one there. She was alone. A loud groan behind her made her turn around, and she saw one of the...things...lurching towards her. Angela didn't hesitate; she turned and ran, her heart pounding in her chest. She had to get out of there, and fast. As she ran, she noticed that the streets were becoming increasingly deserted. The only sounds were the groans of the...things...and her own ragged breathing. Angela's heart was racing, and her legs were starting to ache. She spotted a small alleyway to her left and darted into it, hoping to escape the chaos. The narrow passageway was dark and eerily quiet, and Angela slowed down, her eyes adjusting to the darkness. She leaned against the wall, trying to catch her breath. As she looked around, she realized that she was alone, and a sense of unease crept over her. She had no idea what was happening or where she was going, but she knew she had to keep moving. Angela took a deep breath and started to move forward, her eyes scanning the alleyway for any signs of danger. She had to find a way to survive in this new world, and she was determined to make it through. As she walked, she noticed that the alleyway was lined with abandoned buildings and trash-filled dumpsters. The air was thick with the smell of rotting garbage and decay. Angela's stomach churned, and she felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She quickened her pace, her eyes fixed on the end of the alleyway. As she emerged into the bright sunlight, she was greeted by an empty street. The silence was deafening, and Angela's heart skipped a beat. She took a deep breath and started to move forward, her eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of life. The world was a desolate and frightening place, but Angela was determined to survive. She had to find a way to make it through this new world, no matter what it took.
