Dark Secrets Revealed
Part 5
Judd's eyes locked onto Jay's, his expression grim as he asked the question that had been weighing on his mind since Jay's revelation. "Has your dad ever... done anything weird with you before?" he asked, his voice low and cautious. Jay tilted his head to the side, a peculiar expression on his face, similar to a dog trying to understand a command. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Judd's face twisted in a grimace as he tried to find the right words. "Like, has he touched you anywhere... inappropriately?" he explained, his voice gentle but firm. Jay's glazed-over eyes seemed to glaze over even more, as if a veil of memories had been pulled over them. He nodded slowly, his face expressionless. Judd's gut churned with disgust and anger. "He... he has?" he repeated, his voice shaking with emotion. Jay nodded again, his voice barely audible. "Same with Val and Kurt." Judd felt like he was going to puke. Not only had Jay been assaulted by his own father, but his two older brothers, Val and Kurt, had also been involved. Judd knew Val and Kurt from school, but not on a friendly level. He knew enough about them to not like them, though. They were notorious for tormenting freshmen and anyone smaller than them. The thought of Val, in particular, made Judd's stomach turn. Val was dating Judd's younger sister, Leah, who was only 16. The idea that someone as sick as Val had been in his house, and had been dating his sister, disgusted Judd to his core. He couldn't believe that he had been so blind, so unaware of the evil that had been lurking in the shadows. Judd's mind was racing with questions and emotions, but he knew he had to keep his cool for Jay's sake. He took a deep breath and tried to process the information, trying to think of a way to help Jay and bring his family to justice. "I'm so sorry, Jay," Judd said, his voice cracking with emotion. "I'm going to do everything I can to help you, to make sure that they pay for what they've done to you." Jay looked up at Judd, his eyes empty and haunted. Judd knew that he had to be strong for Jay, to be the rock that the young boy needed. He reached out and gently took Jay's hand, trying to offer what little comfort he could. As they sat there in silence, Judd knew that he had to take action. He couldn't just sit back and do nothing. He would do everything in his power to bring Jay's family to justice, to make sure that they never hurt anyone else again. The thought of it filled him with a sense of purpose, and he knew that he would see it through, no matter what it took.
