Shifting Allegiances

Part 137

The music and chatter of the party swirled around us, a cacophony of sound that seemed to grow louder and more intense with every passing moment. Sera's gaze swept across the room once more, her eyes lingering on each of us before finally landing on Kirishima, who was standing with his usual confident air, a drink in hand. "Truth or dare, Kirishima?" Sera asked, her voice playful and mischievous. Kirishima grinned, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Dare," he said, his voice dripping with bravado. Sera's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with excitement. "I dare you to pick up Vesper bridal style," she said, her voice low and conspiratorial. The room seemed to hold its breath as Kirishima's eyes scanned the space, searching for Vesper. When his gaze landed on her, he chuckled and started to make his way towards her. But it was Sera's gaze that caught my attention - she was staring right at me, a smirk playing on her lips. I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as Kirishima reached Vesper and scooped her up in a bridal carry, cradling her in his arms as he made his way back to the group. Vesper laughed and playfully hit at Kirishima's chest, but he just grinned and continued to carry her, his eyes gleaming with amusement. As Kirishima approached, Vesper's gaze met mine, and I could sense a hint of embarrassment in her expression. But Kirishima just winked at me and continued to carry her, his movements confident and easy. Sera's gaze never wavered from mine, her smirk growing wider as she seemed to wait for my reaction. I felt a sense of unease growing inside me, wondering what she was thinking, what she was planning. But for now, I just stood there, frozen in place, as the party swirled around us.
