Unlikely Intimacy
Part 3
Kenzy's gaze lingered on Levi's face, taking in the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he breathed. She felt a sense of wonder at the sight of him, so different from the stoic, hardened warrior she was used to seeing. His eyes, normally piercing and intense, were soft and closed, his eyelashes casting a gentle shadow on his cheeks. As she lay there, she found herself reaching out to touch him, her fingers brushing against his cheek. The skin was warm and smooth, and she felt a jolt of electricity run through her body at the contact. She stroked his face gently, taking in the curves of his jawline, the sharp angles of his nose, and the softness of his lips. Levi's eyes fluttered open, and he gazed up at her, his expression sleepy and confused. For a moment, he just stared at her, his eyes searching hers. Then, as he realized where he was and who he was holding, his expression changed, his eyes narrowing and his body tensing. Kenzy froze, her hand still on his face, as he slowly sat up, his eyes scanning the room. She could see the tension building in his body, his muscles coiling as he prepared to defend himself. "Kenzy?" he said, his voice low and husky, still laced with sleep. She smiled, trying to put him at ease. "Hey," she whispered, her voice barely audible. Levi's gaze locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. He looked... disoriented, and Kenzy realized that he must have been just as surprised to find himself in her bed as she was. Slowly, Levi's expression softened, and he reached out to gently brush a strand of hair behind her ear. His eyes never left hers, and Kenzy felt a shiver run down her spine as he touched her. "What happened?" he asked, his voice still rough from sleep. Kenzy shook her head, unsure of how to answer. She didn't know how he had ended up in her bed, or why he was holding her so close. Levi's eyes narrowed, and he looked around the room, taking in their surroundings. "I... I don't remember how I got here," he said, his voice tinged with confusion. Kenzy smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "You must have come to my room during the night," she said, her voice gentle. Levi's gaze snapped back to hers, his eyes searching. "Did I...?" he started, his voice trailing off. Kenzy nodded, her heart beating faster. "You were holding me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Levi's expression softened, and he reached out to gently stroke her hair. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice low and husky. "I didn't mean to... I just..." Kenzy felt a pang of affection for him, seeing the confusion and uncertainty in his eyes. She reached out and took his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "You don't have to apologize," she said, her voice calm. "I'm just glad you're here." Levi's gaze locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the air thick with tension. Kenzy could feel the weight of his gaze, the intensity of his stare, and she knew that she was in trouble. She was falling for him, hard and fast, and she didn't know how to stop. As they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, Kenzy realized that she had never felt this way about anyone before. She had always thought of Levi as a friend, a teammate, and a fellow soldier. But now, she wasn't so sure. The air was thick with unspoken emotions, and Kenzy knew that she had to tread carefully. She didn't want to ruin the fragile bond they had formed, not now, when they were about to face one of the toughest missions of their lives. Levi's eyes never left hers, and Kenzy could see the questions forming in his mind. She knew that he was wondering what this meant, what this change in their relationship could mean. But as they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, Kenzy knew that she couldn't think about that right now. She just had to enjoy the moment, savor the feeling of being close to him, of being safe with him by her side. For now, that was enough.
