## Chapter 1: "The Arrangement"
Part 1
The sun cast its warm glow over the manicured lawns of Kim's Family Estate, where a meeting between two influential families was taking place. The air was thick with unspoken expectations, and the atmosphere was heavy with tradition. Kim Chaewon, the most popular boy in school, stood stiffly beside his mother, his expression neutral. Across from them, Kim Minjoo, the president of the student council, stood with her parents, her eyes downcast. The two families had been discussing this arrangement for months. It was a union that would strengthen their social standing, secure their businesses, and solidify their positions in society. Chaewon's mother, a woman with a calculating gaze, spoke up, her voice dripping with politeness. "We're glad you could make it today. We believe this union will be beneficial for both our families." Minjoo's father, a tall, imposing figure, nodded in agreement. "We couldn't agree more. Our children will make a fine couple." Chaewon and Minjoo exchanged a brief glance, their eyes locking for a fleeting moment. They had known each other since childhood, often crossing paths at social events and gatherings. Their relationship had always been cordial, but never truly emotional. As the meeting drew to a close, Chaewon's mother handed Minjoo's mother a small, exquisite box. "A token of our commitment to this arrangement," she said, her smile tight. Minjoo's mother opened the box, revealing a stunning silver necklace with a small diamond pendant. "It's beautiful," she cooed. "Minjoo will treasure it always." The two families finalized the details, and Chaewon and Minjoo were officially announced as being engaged. They stood side by side, their faces expressionless, as their parents beamed with pride. As they walked out of the estate, Minjoo turned to Chaewon and whispered, "I guess this is it, then." Chaewon's eyes flickered, but he quickly regained his composure. "I suppose so," he replied, his voice neutral. Their relationship had just been predetermined, and they were expected to marry in a year's time. Minjoo felt a sense of unease, a feeling that she couldn't quite shake. She had always known this day would come, but she had never truly considered what it would mean. Chaewon, on the other hand, seemed resigned to his fate. He had always been the golden child, the one who would take over the family business one day. This arrangement was just another step in his predetermined path. As they parted ways, Minjoo couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them. Would they be happy, or would they be trapped in a loveless marriage, bound by family obligations? The thought sent a shiver down her spine, but she pushed it aside, focusing on the present. For now, she would play the role of the dutiful fiancée, and Chaewon would play the part of the devoted groom-to-be. Their engagement was just the beginning of a journey that would take them down a path of discovery, heartache, and ultimately, love. But for now, they were just two people, bound together by a family agreement, with no idea what the future held.
