Chapter 17: Life Apart

Part 16

The days that followed were a blur of packing and preparation as Sabrina's tour dates loomed closer. She was set to perform all over the country, and eventually even internationally, for a grueling three months. Nick and Maya would be left behind, alone in the house, with only each other's company to keep them occupied. As they stood in the living room, surrounded by suitcases and boxes, Sabrina couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. She was going to miss her two loves, and the thought of being apart from them for so long was almost too much to bear. Nick and Maya, sensing her emotions, wrapped their arms around her, holding her close. "We'll make it work," Nick whispered, his voice filled with reassurance. "We'll stay in touch every day, and before you know it, you'll be back home with us." Sabrina nodded, trying to muster up some enthusiasm. She knew that this tour was a huge opportunity for her, and she couldn't let it slip away. But as she looked at Nick and Maya, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The three of them spent the rest of the day in a flurry of activity, making sure that everything was taken care of before Sabrina left. They cooked dinner together, and then sat down to eat, savoring the last few hours they had together. As the evening drew to a close, Sabrina stood up, her eyes shining with tears. "I'm going to miss you guys so much," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Nick and Maya stood up, wrapping their arms around her in a tight hug. "We'll miss you too," Nick said, his voice filled with emotion. "But we'll be here, waiting for you, when you get back." As they hugged, Maya felt a sense of trepidation wash over her. She was going to be alone with Nick for three months, with no distractions to keep them occupied. She wasn't sure what to expect, but she knew that it was going to be a challenge. The next morning, Sabrina left for the airport, her suitcase in tow. Nick and Maya stood in the driveway, waving goodbye as she drove away. They watched until she disappeared from view, and then turned to each other, their eyes locking in a moment of understanding. They were on their own now, and they had to navigate the challenges that came with being alone together. Maya felt a sense of uncertainty wash over her, but as she looked at Nick, she knew that they would face whatever came their way, together. As they walked back into the house, Nick put his arm around Maya, pulling her close. "We're in this together," he said, his voice filled with reassurance. "We'll make it work, just like we always do." Maya smiled, feeling a sense of determination wash over her. She knew that the next three months would be a challenge, but she was ready to face it head-on, as long as Nick was by her side.
