"A Moment of Peace"
Part 48
Doc's arm wrapped around Myra's waist as he spoke, his voice low and soothing. "Myra and I were originally here to do our task, Emma, but you know what? Let's just have this moment at peace, and we can talk about this tomorrow." He looked down at Myra, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. Myra felt a flutter in her chest as she looked up at Doc, her mind racing with the implications of his words. She had always seen Doc as her "bro," her best friend, but in this moment, she couldn't help but notice the way his arm felt around her waist, the way his eyes seemed to hold a deeper meaning. Emma turned to Natalie, a smile on her face. "I won't cause further damage any longer, I found what I was looking for." Her eyes sparkled with amusement as she looked at Natalie, and Myra could sense the matchmaking vibes emanating from her. Natalie's eyes lit up with understanding, and she smiled back at Emma. "I think we can all use a break from drama, don't you?" she said, her voice playful. Myra felt a pang of awkwardness as she realized that Emma and Natalie were likely trying to set her and Doc up. She looked around at the cozy living room, the single bed in the spare bedroom looming large in her mind. She knew that Emma and Natalie wouldn't be able to resist the opportunity to play matchmaker. Doc seemed to sense her unease, and he pulled her closer, his arm tightening around her waist. "Let's just enjoy the moment, okay?" he said, his voice low and reassuring. Myra nodded, trying to shake off the feeling of awkwardness. She looked up at Doc, her eyes meeting his, and for a moment, she felt like she was drowning in their depths. She had never seen him like this before, his eyes holding a warmth and intimacy that she had never noticed before. As they stood there, wrapped in the warmth of the moment, Myra couldn't help but wonder what the future held for her and Doc. Was this just a fleeting moment, or was it something more? She knew that she had to navigate her feelings carefully, but for now, she just wanted to savor the peace and tranquility of the moment.
