New Beginnings
Part 38
Six weeks had passed since Ashley and Ryan had started trying to conceive, but so far, it had been a slow and frustrating process. They had been having regular, unprotected sex, but Ashley's periods continued to come and go as usual. She had tried to remain optimistic, but it was hard not to feel a little discouraged when her body seemed to be resisting their efforts. Despite the setbacks, Ashley was determined to stay focused on the positive. She and Ryan were enjoying the process of trying, and it had brought them even closer together. They had started to discuss all the little things they would do with their future child, from family vacations to bedtime stories. Ashley's weekly check-ups with her doctor had become a regular part of her routine. She was being closely monitored, and her doctor was keeping a close eye on her progress. So far, everything seemed to be on track, but Ashley couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She had been feeling unwell for the past few days, and she was convinced that she had come down with the flu. The symptoms had started with a sore throat and a runny nose, but soon escalated to body aches and fatigue. Ashley had been resting a lot, trying to let her body recover, but she couldn't help but feel a little anxious. What if it wasn't just the flu? What if something was wrong? As she lay in bed, Ashley's mind began to wander to Erica, who was now 39 weeks pregnant and counting down the days until her baby arrived. She had been texting Erica regularly, keeping her updated on her own progress, or lack thereof. Erica had been a rock for her, offering words of encouragement and support whenever she needed it. Just as Ashley was drifting off to sleep, her phone buzzed with a text from Erica. "Hey girl, I'm going into labor! I'm heading to the hospital now. Wish me luck!" Ashley's heart skipped a beat as she quickly sat up in bed. This was it – Erica's baby was finally arriving. She quickly typed out a response, sending all her love and best wishes to her friend. As she settled back into bed, Ashley couldn't help but feel a pang of excitement. She was happy for Erica, but a part of her couldn't help but wonder when it would be her turn. When would she get to experience the joy of motherhood for herself? The next few hours passed in a blur as Ashley waited anxiously for updates from Erica. Finally, just as the sun was starting to rise, her phone buzzed with another text. "It's a girl! Erica and baby are doing great. Can't wait for you to meet her!" Ashley smiled, feeling a surge of happiness for her friend. She couldn't wait to meet the new addition to Erica's family. And as she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't help but feel a sense of hope that her own journey to motherhood was just around the corner.
