A Missed Period
Part 6
Dorothy woke up to an ordinary day, or so she thought. As she got dressed and ready for work, she noticed something was off. She had been so caught up in her busy schedule that she hadn't even realized it - she had missed her period. A wave of panic washed over her as she tried to recall the last time she had gotten her monthly visit from Aunt Flo. It had been a few weeks, hadn't it? At first, Dorothy didn't think much of it. Her periods had always been irregular, and she had been under a lot of stress lately. But as she started to think about it more, she began to feel a growing sense of unease. She had been experiencing those strange symptoms for a while now - the fatigue, the queasy feeling, the aches and pains. Could it be related to her missed period? Dorothy tried to brush it off, telling herself she was just being paranoid. But as she went about her day, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She felt...different. Her body felt different, her emotions felt different. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she knew she had to see the doctor. As soon as she got home from work, Dorothy picked up the phone and scheduled an appointment with her doctor. She tried to push the thoughts out of her mind, telling herself it was probably nothing. But deep down, she knew she was worried. The next day, Dorothy sat in the doctor's office, trying to calm her racing thoughts. Dr. Thompson, her doctor, came in with a friendly smile. "So, Dorothy, what seems to be the problem?" she asked. Dorothy hesitated, unsure of how to bring it up. "I've just been feeling really off lately," she said. "I've missed my period, and I've been experiencing some weird symptoms." Dr. Thompson nodded, her expression turning serious. "Let's take a look," she said, picking up a clipboard. "When was your last period?" Dorothy thought for a moment. "I'm not really sure," she admitted. "I've been so busy, I haven't really been keeping track." Dr. Thompson nodded. "Okay, let's do a physical exam and some tests. I think it's a good idea to run some things and see what's going on." As Dr. Thompson performed the exam, Dorothy couldn't help but feel a sense of anxiety. What if it was something serious? What if it was something that would change her life forever? The exam seemed to take forever, but finally, Dr. Thompson finished and sat down at her desk. "Dorothy, I think it's a good idea to run a pregnancy test," she said. Dorothy's eyes widened in shock. A pregnancy test? Could it be? She hadn't been planning on getting pregnant, and at her age, it seemed...unlikely. But as she left the doctor's office, Dorothy couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to take a dramatic turn. Was it possible? Could she really be pregnant? The thought sent a mix of emotions through her - excitement, fear, uncertainty. As she walked home, Dorothy felt like she was walking on air. She couldn't wait to get home and talk to Lucas about it. But deep down, she knew that this was just the beginning of a journey that would change her life forever. The thought both thrilled and terrified her. What did the future hold? Only time would tell.
