"Entwined in Deception"

Part 8

Jamie's eyes narrowed as she stared at Jon, her mind still reeling from the phone call. "Why did you answer my phone?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Jon's expression was calm, but his eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "I did it to protect you," he said, his voice low and soothing. Jamie felt a surge of anger, but Jon's words seemed to have a calming effect on her. She took a deep breath, trying to process her emotions. "But it wasn't your phone to answer," she said, her voice still laced with frustration. Jon pulled her closer, his arms wrapping around her like a warm blanket. "I know it wasn't, but I did it to spare you the drama," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "Mark's feelings for you are clear, but I want you to know that I won't let him or anyone else come between us." Jamie felt a pang of guilt, but Jon's words were like a balm to her soul. He made her feel like she was the only person in the world, like she was his everything. "But why?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why would you do something like that?" Jon's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze burning with intensity. "Because I want you all to myself," he said, his voice filled with passion. "I want to make a life with you, Jamie. I want to wake up every morning with you by my side, to explore the world with you, to build a future with you." Jamie's heart skipped a beat as she listened to Jon's words. She felt like she was drowning in his eyes, like she was lost in the depths of his soul. "What do you want from me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Jon's smile was like a ray of sunshine, it lit up the entire room. "I want you to marry me," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy, loving you, and being loved by you." Jamie's mind reeled as she processed Jon's words. She felt like she was torn between her feelings for Mark and her growing attraction to Jon. But as she looked into Jon's eyes, she saw something there that made her heart skip a beat. She saw a deep and abiding love, a love that seemed to see right through to her soul. "I..." she started to say, but Jon's lips brushed against hers, silencing her. "Don't think about it right now," he whispered, his voice low and husky. "Just feel it, Jamie. Feel the connection between us, the spark that ignites whenever we're together." Jamie felt like she was melting into Jon's arms, like she was becoming one with him. She knew that she had a decision to make, but as she looked into Jon's eyes, she wasn't sure if she could resist the love that he offered.
