Chapter 287: A Glimmer of Hope
Part 286
Dabi's words were laced with a sense of urgency, but I couldn't muster up the energy to respond. I was still trying to process what had happened, and the pain in my head was making it hard to think. As I lay there, I noticed a figure approaching us. It was Toga, her eyes fixed on me with a mixture of concern and curiosity. Toga's face lit up with a bright smile as she saw me lying there. She walked closer, her eyes scanning my body as if searching for something. Her smile faltered for a moment, and then she said, "Awww, you're not bleeding no more." Her voice was laced with a childlike pout, and it was almost jarring given the situation. Bakugo, who had been lying next to me with his eyes closed, suddenly sat up. His eyes locked onto mine, and I could see the anger and concern etched on his face. "Not anymore," he said, his voice low and menacing. Toga seemed oblivious to Bakugo's tone, and she continued to pout. "You were bleeding so much, and now you're all better," she said, her voice filled with a sense of disappointment. Dabi's expression remained calm, but I could see a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. "Toga, this isn't the time for this," he said, his voice firm but controlled. Toga's pout deepened, and she crossed her arms over her chest. "What? I'm just concerned about my friend," she said, her voice laced with innocence. Bakugo's eyes never left mine, and I could see the intensity burning within them. "We need to get out of here," he said, his voice firm. "Now." I nodded, still feeling a bit dazed. Bakugo's words were like a lifeline, and I clung to them desperately. As I struggled to my feet, Bakugo's arm wrapped around my waist, holding me close. Toga watched us with a curious expression, her eyes flicking between Bakugo and me. For a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of understanding in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by her usual mask of curiosity. Dabi's eyes scanned our surroundings, his expression watchful. "We need to move," he said, his voice low and urgent. "Shigaraki won't stay away for long." Bakugo's grip on me tightened, and I felt a surge of gratitude towards him. For a moment, I forgot about the danger that surrounded us, and I just focused on the warmth of his body and the strength of his arm. As we began to move, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Would we be able to escape Shigaraki's clutches, or would we be trapped forever? The uncertainty was daunting, but with Bakugo by my side, I felt a glimmer of hope.
