**Chapter 1: Web of Responsibility**

Part 1

The fog rolled off the Thames, shrouding the city of London in a damp mist. Oscar Piastri, aka Spiderman, perched atop a crumbling brick building in the East End, his eyes scanning the crowded streets below. His spider-sense was on high alert, a tingling sensation in the back of his neck that signaled potential danger. As he gazed out over the city, he couldn't help but think of the long day ahead – finishing his engineering degree at university wasn't going to be easy, but he was determined to make it work. As an engineering student at Imperial College London, Oscar had to balance his studies with his life as Spiderman. It wasn't easy, but he was managing so far. His internship at the Webber Institute, a cutting-edge research facility in London, had given him valuable experience in the field, but it also meant he had to deal with Carlos Sainz, a slightly older chemical engineer who seemed to take great pleasure in pushing Oscar's buttons. A faint cry for help pierced the air, and Oscar's head snapped towards the sound. A group of thugs were mugging a tourist on the corner of Brick Lane, and Spiderman was on the scene in an instant. With a few swift kicks and web-shooters firing strands of sticky webbing, the thugs were fleeing, and the tourist was shaken but unharmed. As Oscar helped the tourist to his feet, a familiar face appeared in the crowd. Lando Norris, the charming and charismatic social media influencer, grinned at Oscar from beneath his trendy sunglasses. Lando was a friend of Oscar's, and he idolized Spiderman almost as much as he loved taking selfies. "Oscar, my man! Spiderman, you're a legend!" Lando exclaimed, snapping a photo of the web-slinger with his phone. "Can I get a selfie with you? My followers would love it!" Oscar rolled his eyes good-naturedly, posing for the photo. "Just be careful, Lando. I don't want your followers getting the wrong idea about what it means to be a hero." Lando chuckled. "Don't worry, Spidey. I'll keep the captions responsible. By the way, have you seen Carlos around? I was hoping to catch up with him over coffee." Oscar's eyes narrowed, his thoughts turning to the Webber Institute and his complicated history with Carlos. "Yeah, I saw him earlier at the institute. He's probably still there, working on his latest project." As Lando wandered off, Oscar's mind turned to his mentor, Mark Webber – aka Iron Man. Mark was currently stateside, attending to Avengers business, but he always kept a watchful eye on Oscar from afar. The two had a strong bond, despite their vastly different approaches to superheroics. Oscar's thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of his phone. A text from Carlos Sainz, flashing on the screen: "Meet me at the institute at 2 pm. We have a project to discuss." Oscar's heart skipped a beat. He and Carlos had a love-hate relationship, constantly butting heads over their differing approaches to engineering. But beneath the surface tension, Oscar couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more between them – something he dare not explore. With a sense of trepidation, Oscar web-slinged his way towards the Webber Institute, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Little did he know, his life as Spiderman was about to become a lot more complicated.
