Before the first wizarding war, before Voldemort rose to power, when the marauders still roamed the halls of Hogwarts. It’s sixth year and Danica Shrike has spent the last five years keeping her head down. Brilliant but aloof and desperately trying to escape a tragic childhood she is mesmerized by magic. Not surprising considering she is muggle born. In second year she discovered the room of requirement and made it her lab. It’s her own private place no one knows about. It’s where she goes to escape and be alone. It’s where she researched how to become an animagus in third year, which ended up being successful - her fox form is great for getting into places she shouldn’t be. It’s where she conducts research and experiments trying to discover all the mysteries and intricacies of magic. She taught herself wandless magic, and has bred her own special plants for use in potions - with the help of her assistant. Her assistant being partly muggle technology and part magic and in the form of a small automaton she created. It took her a year and a half to perfect him. For five years she manages to keep to herself and avoid being noticed. Until she’s assigned a project that requires a partner and this year the professors won’t let her get away with doing everything solo. Her assigned partner wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the people she surrounded herself with. Lily Evans is brilliant- but her boyfriend James Potter his friends annoying and distracting, not to mention always scheming idiotic pranks. The project is only one semester, surely she can manage to grit her teeth and bear it without doing something she’ll regret. Right? She’s a muggle born from America who was supposed to attend Ilvermorny. However due to the unfortunate and volatile circumstances under which she discovered she had magic no school would touch her.
