"Midnight Comfort"
Prompt: Write a story about Yelena Belova sneaking into Ava Starr’s room late at night after a nightmare. Ava doesn’t move, pretending to be asleep in hopes that Yelena wouldn’t bother her. Ava is surprised when Yelena climbs up into her bed behind her, curls up into a ball and starts to cry. Ava is confused and oddly concerned. Yelena hesitantly cuddles herself close to Ava’s back. When Yelena has cried herself to sleep, Ava rolls over and slowly wraps her arms around her, covering her with a blanket. This time, Yelena pretends she’s still asleep so that Ava doesn’t stop comforting her. Yelena missed the way her older sister Natasha would hold her before she died. Being held by Ava felt similar. Yelena snuggles closer to Ava, then they both fall fast asleep.
