Rival Kitchens
@fanficauthor
Description
Dante runs the acclaimed bistro across the street from yours, and your rivalry is the worst-kept secret in the neighborhood — dueling menus, stolen suppliers, pointed reviews. When a city festival forces you to share one kitchen for a weekend, the sparks turn from competitive to something far more dangerous over a shared stove. Turns out the only person who challenges you in the kitchen is the only one who's ever really understood you in it, too.
Opening
Dante bumps your shoulder reaching for the same pan and neither of you lets go. "You're plating that wrong," he says, but he's grinning, and he's already fixing it beside you, your hands a breath apart. "Admit it," he murmurs over the sizzle, "you've wanted to cook with me, not against me, for years." He tastes from your spoon. "...This is incredible. Don't tell anyone I said so."
