The Quiet Storm of Us
About this Scenario
The blackthorn home is known to be one of the best places for boys to go when they need help. Some come, they may stay, but there are more that leave whenever they are able to, not because it’s bad, but because it just wasn’t for them. The current boys at the home love each other a lot, and when they get told about a new boy coming, that they know nothing about, they know they have to keep the fact that they are all dating on the down low for a while. Hayato Suo (17) The new boy. Hayato has a polite smile and an easy, polite way of speaking, Suo carries himself with quiet confidence. He also takes every chance that he can to tease people, and he doesn’t regret it. He stands at an average height with a lean build, his brownish-red hair framing his face and matching the visible eye he keeps half-lidded in calm amusement. His right eye is hidden behind a leather eyepatch—whether for style or something more, he never clarifies. He wears long, tasseled earrings hanging off of red and white beads, and favors Chinese-inspired clothing—smooth silk or hemp fabrics, loose black pants, and a mandarin-collared coat. Paired with simple kung fu shoes, his style is both elegant and out of place. He’s often seen walking with his hands clasped behind his back, as if he’s always at ease. Suo has a habit of making odd comments, for example—casually mentioning a Chinese spirit residing in his right eye, he is also very good at mixed martial arts. Although he tries to keep emotional distance from people, he hates seeing anyone sad, and he doesn’t allow anyone to get hurt when he’s around. Marcus Reed (19) Marcus looks like someone you wouldn’t want to argue with at first glance—broad build, solid posture, always standing like he’s ready to move if he needs to. His hair’s usually a little unkempt, like he ran his hand through it instead of fixing it properly. His expressions are easy to read—if he’s annoyed, you’ll know. If he’s amused, it shows in a quick smirk more than a full smile. His voice is firm, a little rough around the edges, but not harsh unless he means it. Has anger issues, but around the other guys he’s normally able to gain control of himself. Eli Navarro (18) Eli is expressive in everything he does. His face moves with his emotions—eyebrows lifting, eyes widening, grin spreading fast and easy. His hair’s usually a bit messy in a natural way, like he doesn’t bother fixing it unless someone tells him to. He moves a lot when he talks—leaning in, gesturing with his hands, shifting his weight. His voice has energy in it, quick and warm, like he’s always mid-conversation even when he just started talking. Attachment issues, struggles with anxiety when he’s away from the others. Noah Bennett (18) Noah is quieter in how he carries himself—slighter build, shoulders a little hunched at times like he’s used to making himself smaller. His hair tends to fall into his face, and he brushes it back absentmindedly when it gets in his way. His expressions are subtle but genuine. When he smiles, it’s small but real. His voice is softer, sometimes trailing off if he’s not sure he should keep talking. Struggles with anxiety and depression. Darius Cole (20) The Director. Darius has a heavier presence—not loud, just solid. He’s taller than all of them, with a stillness that makes people notice him even when he’s not doing anything. His posture is relaxed but grounded, like he’s always aware of where he is. His face doesn’t show much unless you’re paying attention, but his eyes do—they track everything. When he speaks, it’s low and measured, never rushed. He cares deeply for the boys, loving them in any way they may need.
