The Conjuring
Prompt: NCT 127 FanFiction: The Conjuring
In the heart of Seoul, a group of young adults known as NCT 127 were enjoying a rare weekend off from their rigorous schedule. The members shared laughter and camaraderie in their dorm as they lounged on the plush couches, each browsing through their phones or joking over the latest game. But as the sun dipped below the horizon, something supernatural stirred in the air, unbeknownst to them.
Taeyong looked up from his phone, an amused smile playing on his lips. “Hey guys, who’s up for a movie night? I found this creepy flick called ‘The Conjuring’.”
The members exchanged curious glances. While some were intrigued by the idea of a horror movie, others could already feel a pang of hesitation.
“Come on, it’ll be fun! We can see who screams the loudest!” Mark chimed in, nudging Yuta playfully.
“Not gonna lie, I’m a bit scared of horror movies,” Yuta admitted with a sheepish grin.
“Don’t be a baby, Yuta! I’ll protect you!” Jaehyun teased, throwing an arm around Yuta’s shoulders. The laughter settled the nerves, and slowly, the consensus was made. They would watch it.
The lights dimmed as they set up in the living room, a mountain of snacks before them. Doyoung was in charge of the remote, taking on the role of ‘movie manager’ for the night.
As the eerie opening credits rolled, the room filled with an unsettling atmosphere. The haunting music set a spine-tingling backdrop for the story unfolding on-screen. The deeper they delved into the film, the more the tension in the air thickened.
In between jump scares, their banter continued, but soon, even the most innocent of jokes gave way to anxious whispers.
“Okay, I really don’t like this,” Winwin mumbled, his voice a little too high-pitched for comfort.
“Just think of it as acting!” Johnny suggested, attempting to lighten the mood. “We’re all here together. Nothing can hurt us!”
But as the film continued, shadows danced on the walls, and the whispers escalated into a crescendo of cautious voices.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the dorm, jolting everyone out of their seats. Jungwoo dropped his popcorn, and it scattered across the floor like a bouquet of kernels.
“Yuta, was that you?” Haechan blurted, wide-eyed as he peered into the dim shadows of the room, searching for the source of the sound.
“No! I swear I didn’t do anything!” Yuta squeaked, clinging tighter to Jaehyun.
The members exchanged nervous glances, but the bravest among them, Taeyong, decided to investigate. “I’ll check it out. Stay here.”
“Are you crazy?” Haechan exclaimed. “What if something spooky is really going on?”
Taeyong shrugged off the concern, his curiosity getting the better of him. As he stepped into the dim hallway, a chill ran down his spine. The darkness felt alive, as if it was waiting to reveal its secrets.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group remained in the living room, hearts racing. They could hear the creaks and groans of the building, the soft wind rattling the windows, but it was nothing compared to the mounting dread of being in complete silence.
Just as Taeyong turned the corner, a figure appeared momentarily in the shadows—a flash of white before it vanished. His heart raced, but he told himself it was just his imagination. As he returned to the living room, he could sense that the air had shifted.
“What took you so long?” Johnny asked, though there was a nervous edge in his voice.
“Nothing, just checking.” Taeyong tried to sound unconcerned, but the apprehensive looks of the members told him otherwise.
He sat back down, but before long, another crash echoed from the kitchen.
“Okay, that’s it!” Mark burst out. “This is creepy! Let’s just stop the movie!”
But before anyone could respond, the lights flickered with an ominous hum. The television screen momentarily distorted, and the power surged back, the movie continuing despite their collective dread.
“Did you see that?” Doyoung whispered, his face pale.
“Yeah, I definitely did!” Jungwoo nodded, his eyes darting toward the now dark hallway.
“Maybe we should just all sleep in the living room together?” Winwin suggested hesitantly, but no one was inconsolable about the idea.
“I’m not going to sleep while that thing is around here!” Yuta protested.
Just then, the TV screen cracked with static, and an eerie figure emerged—an apparition that seemed to fade in and out of existence. The members gasped, a chorus of disbelief and fear filling the room.
“Turn it off! Turn it off!” Haechan yelled.
Doyoung hurried to the remote but found the buttons unresponsive. Panic set in as the spectral figure floated menacingly across the screen, its eyes locked onto them.
“Guys, this can’t be happening!” Taeyong said, trying to maintain his composure.
With the television still flickering its ghastly image, an object from the kitchen flew through the air and crashed against the wall, startling everyone. Yuta shrieked, clinging to Jaehyun.
“Maybe it’s mad we’re not paying attention!” Johnny joked nervously, trying to ease the tension.
“Or maybe it likes us!” Haechan shot back, but fear laced his words.
Just then, an unexpected blast of cold air swept through the room, extinguishing the lights completely.
“Everyone, hold hands!” Taeyong shouted instinctively, unsure of what else to do.
They all grasped hands, forming a circle as they huddled closer together. In the darkness, they felt a comforting warmth from each other. The palpable fear mixed with excitement as they learned they were not alone.
Suddenly, a soft voice whispered from the shadows, “You’re safe. You’re here with us.”
Though their hearts raced, a feeling of protection enveloped them, as if the spirit meant no harm but was simply curious about its lively visitors.
“Whatever this is, we’re stronger together!” Mark said, forcing a smile.
Eventually, the lights began to flicker back on, illuminating the fearful yet resolute faces of the members. The figure from the screen faded into nothingness, but the memory of the night remained etched in their minds.
“Well, let’s just say we’re never doing that again,” Doyoung chuckled nervously.
“Agreed,” Winwin added, his voice shaky yet relieved.
As laughter broke through the tension, the members knew they would share this experience forever, intertwining it with their bond. нWhatever held them captive tonight could not tear them apart, for together, they were more than a group—they were a family.
