"Unraveling the Past"

Part 3

Pearl's eyes widened as she took a step closer to Spinel, her gaze darting back and forth between the young girl and Steven. "Spinel...oh no, Steven, where did you find her?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. Steven looked at Pearl, confused. "I...I found her in the wasteland," he replied. "But what's going on? Why are you so upset?" Pearl's eyes locked onto Spinel, and she took another step closer, her hands reaching out as if to grab the young girl. "You can't be here," she whispered, her voice urgent. "It's not safe." Garnet and Amethyst exchanged worried glances, sensing that something was off. "Pearl, what's wrong?" Garnet asked, her voice calm and soothing. Pearl's gaze didn't waver from Spinel. "You don't understand," she said, her voice rising. "She...she's a product of the Homeworld. A creation of Peridot's experiments." Amethyst's eyes widened in surprise. "Pearl, what are you talking about?" she asked. Pearl's face went pale, and she looked like she was about to collapse. "We can't let him know," she whispered, her eyes darting to Steven. "We can't let him find out about the things we've been hiding." Steven's confusion deepened. "What things?" he asked, his voice firm. "What are you hiding from me?" Spinel, sensing the tension, took a step back, her eyes wide with fear. Steven instinctively reached out and took her hand, trying to reassure her. Pearl's eyes snapped back to Steven, and she took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "Steven, we...we need to talk about this in private," she said, her voice strained. Garnet stepped forward, her expression firm. "Pearl, I think we should listen to Steven," she said. "He has a right to know what's going on." Pearl's face twisted in a mixture of fear and anxiety. "You don't understand," she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. "If he finds out...if he remembers..." Steven's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. What was Pearl hiding? And what did it have to do with him? He looked at Spinel, who was still clutching his hand, and knew that he had to protect her, no matter what secrets Pearl was trying to keep.
