**Chapter 6: Guilt and Anxiety**

Part 6

Jack's guilt was suffocating him, making it hard to breathe. He couldn't shake off the feeling of shame that had been weighing him down since Luiza discovered his affair. He had tried to talk to her, to apologize and make amends, but she had rebuffed him. As he walked into the hotel gym, he spotted his brother, Alex, on the treadmill. Jack slowed down, not wanting to disturb him, but Alex caught his eye and nodded for him to join him. "Hey, bro," Alex said, his voice low and serious. "You okay? You look like you've lost your last friend." Jack sighed, taking a seat on the bench next to the treadmill. "I'm not okay, Alex. I messed up big time." Alex stopped the treadmill and turned to face him. "I know, Jack. I know about... everything." Jack's eyes narrowed, surprised that Alex had known about his affair. "You've known all along?" Alex nodded. "Yeah, I had a feeling something was off. And Marco... he suspected something too." Jack's coach, Marco, had been like a second father to him. Jack couldn't believe that both Alex and Marco had known about his affair and hadn't said anything. "Why didn't you tell Luiza?" Jack asked, feeling a mix of emotions. Alex shrugged. "We didn't want to hurt her, Jack. And we didn't want to jeopardize your chances at the tournament. But... we also didn't want to enable your behavior." Jack felt a pang of guilt, knowing that his family and team had been caught in the middle of his mess. He stood up, his eyes locked on his brother's. "I need to make things right with Luiza, Alex. I don't know how, but I have to try." Alex nodded, a small smile on his face. "I know you do, Jack. And I'll be here to support you, bro." As Jack left the gym, he spotted Luiza in the hotel lobby, chatting with some sponsors. He felt a surge of anxiety, not knowing how to approach her. He took a deep breath and walked towards her, his heart pounding in his chest. "Hey," he said, his voice soft. "Can we talk?" Luiza turned to him, her eyes cool and distant. "What is it, Jack?" Jack hesitated, unsure of how to start. "I just... I wanted to apologize again. For everything." Luiza's expression didn't change, but Jack saw a flicker of emotion in her eyes. "Apologies are not enough, Jack. You know that." Jack nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. "I know. I just... I don't know what else to do." Luiza's gaze drifted away, and Jack was left standing there, feeling helpless and lost. Later that day, Jack met up with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz for a casual dinner. The conversation was light and easy, but Jack's mind was elsewhere. He couldn't stop thinking about Luiza and the situation he had created. "I'm in a tough spot, guys," Jack said, his voice low and serious. "I messed up big time." Jannik and Carlos exchanged a knowing glance, their expressions sympathetic. "What happened?" Jannik asked, his voice gentle. Jack took a deep breath, his eyes scanning the room before locking onto his friends. "I had an affair. And now my wife is... she's not happy with me." The conversation that followed was a raw and honest one, with Jack's friends offering words of advice and encouragement. But as they parted ways, Jack couldn't shake off the feeling that he had a long and difficult road ahead of him. As he lay in bed that night, Jack's mind was racing with thoughts of Luiza and their marriage. He knew he had to make things right, but he wasn't sure where to start. He tossed and turned, his heart heavy with guilt and anxiety. Meanwhile, Luiza was lying awake in her own bed, her mind replaying the conversation she had with Ana earlier that day. She knew she deserved better than a cheating husband, but a part of her still loved Jack. She was torn, her emotions in conflict. As she drifted off to sleep, Luiza's thoughts turned to Jack, and she wondered what the future held for them. Would they be able to overcome their problems, or would their marriage crumble under the pressure? Only time would tell.
