"Shadows in the Dark"
Part 4
The whisper seemed to come from all around them, echoing off the walls and sending a shiver down their spines. Mitsuba let out a high-pitched scream, his voice trembling with fear. "AHHHHH! WHAT WAS THAT?!" he shrieked, his pink hair standing on end. Kou's eyes sparkled with amusement in the darkness, and he chuckled softly. Mitsuba's eyes widened as he realized who had spoken, and he spun around, his fists flying. Kou barely had time to react before Mitsuba's fist connected with his jaw, sending him stumbling backward. "Asshole!" Mitsuba shouted, his voice still trembling with fear. Kou chuckled, rubbing his sore jaw. "Well, I guess I had it coming," he said, his voice low and smooth. Mitsuba's face twisted in a scowl, but he didn't seem to be able to muster up any more anger. Instead, he reached out and grasped Kou's arm, his fingers digging deep into his skin. Kou didn't pull away, and instead, he let Mitsuba cling to him. As they stood there, Kou realized that he wasn't scared of the dark at all. But Mitsuba, on the other hand, was terrified. His breathing was rapid, and his body was tense, but as he clung to Kou, he seemed to relax a little. Kou began to walk down the dark hallway, Mitsuba clinging to his side. The darkness seemed to press in around them, but Kou moved confidently, his senses guiding him through the darkness. Mitsuba didn't seem to notice, too busy clinging to Kou for support. As they walked, Kou couldn't help but notice the way Mitsuba's body felt against his. It was warm, and solid, and there was something comforting about having Mitsuba so close. He could smell Mitsuba's scent, a mix of shampoo and sweat, and it was surprisingly nice. Mitsuba, too, seemed to be aware of the proximity, but he didn't seem to want to admit it. He kept his face buried in Kou's shoulder, his breathing rapid and uneven. Kou could feel Mitsuba's heart pounding against his side, and it was a little soothing. As they walked, the darkness seemed to press in around them, but Kou didn't feel scared. With Mitsuba clinging to him, he felt a sense of calm, a sense of companionship. And as they moved through the darkness, Kou couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead, and whether Mitsuba would ever let go.
