Chapter 1: A Typical Sunday Morning

Part 1

The Taylor household was buzzing with activity on a sunny Sunday morning. Caroline, or Caz as her family called her, was busy in the kitchen, whipping up a storm for their weekly Sunday roast. The aroma of roasting chicken and fresh vegetables filled the air, making everyone's stomach growl with anticipation. Mark, her husband, was attempting to watch the football match on TV, but was being bombarded by requests for help with various tasks from their four children. In the living room, Lily was sprawled on the couch, scrolling through her phone and listening to music on her headphones. She was revising for her upcoming A-Level exams and was determined to get top grades. Liam was sprawled on the floor, engrossed in a video game on his console, his messy light brown hair sticking up in every direction. The TV was blaring in the background, with the sound muted, as Mark tried to keep an eye on the match while also refereeing a heated argument between 8-year-old twins, Max and Poppy. The twins were in the midst of a heated debate over who got to play with the toy superhero figure, with Max insisting it was his turn and Poppy arguing that she had played with it last. Caz intervened, expertly juggling a tray of potatoes and gravy, "Okay, okay, let's take turns, shall we? Max can play with it for a bit, and then Poppy gets a turn, deal?" As the morning chaos unfolded, Mark stood up from the couch, stretching his lanky frame, and made his way to the kitchen. "Caz, love, can I get a cuppa?" he asked, planting a kiss on her cheek. Caz smiled and handed him a steaming cup of tea, "Of course, dear. How's the match going?" Mark took a sip of his tea and surveyed the chaos around him, "It's a bit of a mess, but Arsenal's winning, so that's all that matters." Caz chuckled and shook her head, "You're such a goofball, Mark." Lily rolled her eyes good-naturedly from across the room, "Daaaad, can you please keep it down? I'm trying to revise." Mark grinned, "Sorry, Lil, I'll try to keep the noise down. But just for the record, I'm a genius, and my teaching skills are rubbing off on the kids... or so I keep telling Caz." The family erupted into a chorus of laughter and teasing, with Caz playfully hitting Mark on the arm with a tea towel. As they all sat down to enjoy their Sunday roast together, it seemed like just another typical, lovable Taylor family morning. But little did they know, this Sunday was about to take an unexpected turn...
