"A Darker Agenda Unfolds"
Part 3
The evening's tension still lingered in the air as Zelda poured herself another glass of wine, her eyes fixed on Princess Sofia with a mixture of wariness and curiosity. "Tell me, Princess Sofia," Zelda said, her voice measured, "what was the race of the hero from your kingdom who was given to the gods?" Sofia's grin returned, and she seemed to take pleasure in Zelda's inquiry. "Ah, Galen was a Nefarian, of course," she said, her voice dripping with pride. "A strong and proud people, the Nefarians are known for their bravery and martial prowess." As soon as the words left Sofia's lips, Zelda felt a sudden jolt of discomfort. A horrible image formed in her mind, one that she couldn't shake no matter how hard she tried. She saw Link, her childhood friend, being led to an altar, his wrists bound and a look of terror in his eyes. The image was so vivid, so real, that Zelda felt her stomach churn with nausea. Sofia seemed to notice Zelda's distress, but she didn't appear to care. Instead, she leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "And what about Link, Zelda? What race is he?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Zelda's heart sank, and she knew she had to tread carefully. She didn't want to reveal too much, didn't want to give Sofia any more ammunition to use against her kingdom. But she couldn't avoid the question forever. "Link... he's a Hylian," she said finally, trying to keep her voice steady. Sofia's face lit up with a manic grin, and she let out a squeal of delight. "Oh, how marvelous!" she exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity. "The Hylians are such a noble and ancient people. I just know they'll appreciate the... finer things in life." Zelda felt a chill run down her spine as she realized that Sofia's excitement wasn't just about the Hylians in general, but about Link specifically. She didn't know what Sofia's plans were, but she knew she had to protect Link at all costs. The thought sent a surge of determination through her, and she steeled herself for the challenges that lay ahead. As the storm clouds gathered outside, Zelda knew that she was facing a threat that went far beyond a simple disagreement with a visiting princess. She was facing a darkness that threatened to consume her kingdom, and she was determined to stop it at all costs.
