**A Lazy Day in the Life of Sans**

Part 1

Sans was chilling at his hotdog stand, or rather, it wasn't a hotdog stand, but a small cart next to a hotdog store that sold all sorts of hotdogs and actually had customers. Sans had no idea why his stand was popular, maybe the hotdogs were much better, he shrugged it off and just laid back like usual, with no care in the world, well except thinking of his static state that seemed more apparent as the days passed. Nothing stayed the same anymore. It had become very clear that he and Toriel were never friends; they bonded over jokes and puns back in the underground behind the door, and Toriel probably was coping for her loneliness after she left Asgore and hid in the ruins. They didn’t even share a name basis until the barrier broke. The only activities he shared with Toriel were when Papyrus dragged him into going to Grillby's and performing puns or drinking ketchup. Even that was impossible now; his restaurant was flourishing, and the business was serious. He would only be a drag if he made “tabs” and unpaid messing around the place. Everything was so…new and unpredictable. He looked at the sky; it was a beautiful, clear sky, a perfect weather….for a walk. He stood up and began to take a walk, with no real destination, he just walked and thought. He looked at the city and the people walking on the sidewalks, he just looked at how everyone was doing their thing. Some were running to places, some were shopping, even monsters were in on it all. He then noticed the kids playing…he chuckled and just continued walking. As he walked, something caught his attention - a park….it was a park with a big playground for children, a pond with ducks….and a bench on the corner with shade. He walked to the bench and sat down on it; he looked at the pond, the ducks were just swimming without a single care in the world. Some figure approached him, a policewoman with recently cut short hair, it’s none other than Undyne. Sans kinda forgot that unlike the others who were busy in worldly matters, Undyne was just a mere policewoman. "…sup Undyne," Sans said, leaning back into the bench, not looking at her and just relaxing on the bench. "….got a minute?" Undyne asked, sitting on the bench with him, crossing her arms. Sans chuckled and closed his eyes, "i got the whole day in fact." Undyne rolled her eyes before continuing, "…I need to ask you something…". Sans opened his eyes, not that he had pupils, but it was obvious he was paying attention to her, "yeah?what is it?" "…why aren't you doing anything with your life?.." Undyne asked him bluntly. Sans chuckled again and said nonchalantly, "what do you mean?i am doing something…i'm selling hotdogs." Undyne stared at him with a surprised, non-angry expression, "Aha can’t complain when all I do is doing boring paper work”"…you know what I mean…everyone is doing something. Paps is a famous ambassador to monsters and humans…mettaton is a famous celebrity….even Alphys is making a new revolution in tech and magic…and yet you're just sitting here selling hotdogs like nothing…". She waved her hands until she slapped her forehead, "And I! I mean I was Undyne, captain of the royal guard, I mean I don’t want to brag and I just became to be a hero but to reduce to mere police making paper work of some sort!” Sans shrugged, "…that just how things turned out." Undyne sighed and looked at the sky, "…really just because that's how things go…no ambitions…no purpose?" Sans closed his eyes again, "….i guess so…" He answered quietly as possible, trying to avoid the topic. Undyne raised her eyebrows at his answer, "You seem more troubled by this problem of being a mere policewoman than my funny state though." "Of course I am troubled…I'm just a cop doing mere paper work…I'm not doing anything…I have no purpose," Undyne said, crossing her arms and leaning back on the bench. Sans gave a small chuckle at her sarcasm, "Heh, you've always been impatient, maybe your key is just wait it out and let life take its course." Undyne groaned and ran a hand through her hair, "Because someone has to do it?…monsters hopes and dreams are effected by it even by one of I can save what remaining in someway or sort I would do it..and who knows maybe just like you said they would let you later to do more for monsterkind sake" Sans stared at her; he didn't relate to her at all. Why did she even have a problem with that? The conversation between Sans and Undyne had just begun. What would Undyne say next?
