"Disappearance and Deception"

Part 2

I frantically dialed John's number, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Where could Sarah be? Had something happened to her? The phone rang several times before John picked up, his voice groggy and disoriented. I didn't care; I had to know what was going on. "John, it's me. Sarah's gone," I said, trying to keep my panic in check. There was a pause, and then I heard a muffled voice in the background. A woman's grunts and moans filled the line, and I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. "Sorry, mate," John said, his voice strained. "Just give me a minute." The sounds in the background grew louder, and I could tell that John was in the middle of something. I didn't want to know what. I just wanted to know where Sarah was. Finally, John came back on the line, his voice more composed. "I'm sorry about that. I'm a bit... indisposed at the moment. Can you come over? I think I can help you find Sarah." I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I wanted to intrude on John's... activities. But my concern for Sarah won out. "Where are you?" I asked. There was a pause, and then John gave me an address. "Just come over, mate. We'll talk about it then." I hung up the phone, feeling a sense of trepidation. The address John gave me was in a part of town I had never been to before. I grabbed my keys and headed out the door, wondering what I would find. As I pulled up to the address, my jaw dropped. The house was a mansion, with sprawling gardens and a driveway that seemed to go on forever. I had known John since childhood, and I had no idea he had moved into a place like this. When did he afford to live here? I got out of the car and approached the front door, feeling a sense of unease. Something was off. John's sudden change in fortunes, the woman's presence in the background... it all seemed too suspicious. I rang the doorbell, and a moment later, the door swung open. John stood in the entrance, a sheepish grin on his face. "Come on in, mate," he said, gesturing for me to enter. "We've got a lot to talk about."
