The Unkind Dursleys
Part 1
Harry Potter was an 8-year-old orphan who lived in Surrey, England, with his cruel Muggle (non-magical) relatives, the Dursleys. He resided in a small house on Privet Drive, marked as #4, where he was treated poorly by his aunt, uncle, and cousin. Harry's life was miserable, as he was forced to sleep in a cupboard under the stairs, which was his bedroom. The cupboard was small, with a single bed and a small table by the window. Harry had to do all the household chores to "earn his keep," as the Dursleys called it. He would spend hours cleaning, cooking, and running errands for his relatives. The Dursleys barely provided Harry with any clothing, and he had to wear Dudley's old hand-me-downs, which were much too big for his thin frame. Dudley, his cousin, was a spoiled and overweight boy who loved to tease and bully Harry. Dudley and his gang of friends would often chase Harry around the neighborhood, calling him "Freak" and beating him up in a game they called "Harry Hunting." The Dursleys would often threaten any child at school who wanted to be Harry's friend, making it hard for him to make any connections. Harry's life with the Dursleys was not easy. He barely knew anything about his parents, except for what his aunt and uncle told him one day. They said that his parents had died in a car crash, and that his father was an unemployed drunk while his mother was a "miserable freak," like Harry. Harry never knew why strange things happened around him, such as making his hair grow back overnight when Aunt Petunia gave him a terrible haircut, or turning his substitute teacher's wig blue when she got annoyed at him for something that was actually Dudley's fault. One day, Harry heard the news that the Dursleys were going on a vacation to South America in Brazil! They couldn't leave Harry with their neighbor, Mrs. Figg, this time, since she was away visiting a family member in Wales. So, they had no choice but to bring Harry with them. Harry tried to hide his excitement in front of his relatives, but deep down, he was jumping for joy at the idea of actually going on a trip with them instead of being left behind like usual. As they prepared to leave, Harry couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. He was excited to leave the Dursleys behind and experience something new, but he was also nervous about what lay ahead. The Dursleys packed their bags, and Harry was forced to wear one of Dudley's old outfits, which was a bit too big for him. They boarded the plane, and Harry felt a sense of adventure wash over him as the plane took off. The flight was long, but Harry was too excited to sleep. He looked out the window, watching as the clouds and landscape passed by. When they arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Harry was amazed by the beautiful scenery and vibrant culture. They spent a few days sightseeing, and then traveled to the Amazon jungle for a tour. As they explored the jungle, Harry's amazement grew. He saw exotic birds, monkeys, and even pink river dolphins jumping in and out of the water. But little did he know, his life was about to take a dramatic turn, one that would change him forever. The jungle was full of wonders, but it also held dangers that Harry was not prepared for. He was about to find out that he was not alone, and that his life was about to take a magical turn.
