The Wings of Destiny: A Magical Amazonian Adventure
Prompt: A young 8 year orphan old boy named Harry Potter lived in Surrey, England on Privet Drive in the house marked #4. His guardians were his relatives, the Dursleys. There was Aunt Petunia from his mother's side, his Uncle Vernon, and his overweight, spoiled rotten cousin, Dudley. Unfortunately, they were not kind to the poor boy, making him sleep in a cupboard under the stairs for his bedroom, and forcing him to do all the household chores to "earn his keep." Harry didn't even have his own clothes, for he only had Dudley's old hand-me-downs, which were much too big for his thin frame. Dudley and his gang of friends liked to chase Harry and beat him up in a game they called "Harry Hunting", and would threaten any child at school who wanted to be Harry's friend. If Harry was being punished for an unfair reason, or for something he didn't even do, Uncle Vernon would beat him before locking him in his cupboard. The Dursleys barely even called Harry by name, usually referring to him as "Freak", or "Boy." Life was not easy for poor Harry. He barely knew anything about his parents, except for what his aunt and uncle told him one day. All they had said was that they both died in a car crash, and that his father was an unemployed drunk while his mother was a "miserable freak", like he was. Harry never knew why strange things happened around him, such as making his hair grow back overnight when Aunt Petunia gave him a terrible haircut, or turning his substitute teacher's wig blue when she got annoyed at him for something that was actually Dudley's fault. It was almost like magic, not that he'd ever say that out loud, for the Dursleys hated anything seemingly "abnormal", such as magic, saying there's no such thing as "that freakish nonsense." One day, Harry heard news that the Dursleys were going on a vacation to South America in Brazil! They couldn't leave Harry with their neighbor, Mrs. Figg, this time, since she was away visiting a family member in Wales. So they had no choice but to bring Harry with them. Harry did his best to hide his excitement in front of his relatives, but deep down, he was jumping for joy at the idea of actually going on a trip with them instead of being left behind like usual. The plane ride was uneventful, but Harry was amazed when they finally landed in Rio de Janeiro. They did some sightseeing for a few days, then traveled to the Amazon to get a tour of the jungle. This time, Harry's amazement tripled as he took in the beautiful scenery and the glistening waters of the Amazon River. As they rode down the river in a tourist boat, Harry saw pink river dolphins jumping in and out of the water. But when they got to the walking part of the tour, Harry was left behind when he stopped to admire a strange blue feather he found on the ground. When he realized he was lost, he started to panic a bit, remembering all the dangerous animals that you could find in the Amazon jungle from the tourist guide. After a bit of walking and some deep breaths to calm down, Harry sat down by the riverbank. He remembered that when you're lost, it's best to stay where you are and wait for help. "But who would find me here?", Harry thought. Suddenly, he heard a sound of wings beating through the trees. Then, a tall, muscle-built man with long slick black hair wearing blue and brown tribe clothing and blue paint on his face and body appeared through the trees. But what was even more astounding about this strange man was the fact that he had two huge blue bird wings on his back! Quick as a flash, the man swooped down from the tree and grabbed Harry's arms, flying off with the boy. Harry tried to scream, but he was so shocked and terrified, he couldn't make a single sound escape his mouth. But the winged man did not let him fall as he gently but firmly held onto his waist. After a few minutes of flying, he set Harry down on the ground in a beautiful hidden clearing where a tribe of several other blue-winged people lived in huge treehouses. The tribe members all curiously looked at Harry, who was getting a little anxious and nervous with all this strange attention. An elderly man named Eduardo, who was the leader of the tribe, stepped forth. He had an intimidating presence with brown eyes, greying dark hair, blue and brown tribe clothing, blue face and body paint, and large blue bird wings on his back. He carried a large decorated spear/staff, and spoke to the man who brought Harry here, whose name was Roberto. "What happened, Roberto? Who is this boy?" "I don't know, Eduardo, but I found him close to the tribe border. He might be lost.", Roberto replied. Eduardo frowned and nodded. "I see..." He turned to Harry, who was getting more nervous by the second. "And who are you?", Eduardo asked sternly. Harry shook with fear. "Uh...", he stammered, but Eduardo interrupted. "Hey! 'Uh' is not an appropriate answer! I asked you a question!" With all this confusion, Harry was ready to pass out from fear. Luckily, two blue-winged people came forth, noticing his distress. The first was Jewel, a beautiful South American woman who had bright blue eyes, large light blue bird wings on her back, wore a bright blue tribe dress, had a tropical flower in her long, wavy black hair, and no shoes. She was Eduardo's daughter. The second was a man named Blu, who had messy brown hair and wore blue tribe clothes like the rest, as well as blue face and body paint. He had a small black pouch tied to his belt and had no shoes. He was Jewel's loving and smart husband. Jewel spoke to Eduardo before he could scare the boy even more. "Wait, Daddy, maybe you should calm down. He's just a child!" She bent down to Harry's level, and slowly reached out to him, but he flinched back, since he usually associated that sort of movement with the Dursleys hurting him. "It's okay. sweetie. No one will hurt you here.", Jewel smiled gently. "Can you tell us your name?", she asked. Harry hesitated, and then said, "My name is Harry Potter. I'm from England. I got lost when my relatives left me behind on a tour through the jungle." Blu spoke next. "They left you behind? That's awful! Where are your parents?" Harry looked down. "They both died when I was a baby. I live with my relatives. I...I'm pretty sure they left me in the jungle on purpose.", he said, almost whispering the last part. Eduardo apologized to Harry for frightening him, and decided that he would stay with his daughter and her family as their guest. Harry is very grateful, and the winged people of the tribe, called the Blue Macaw Tribe, all welcome him with open arms and wings. In their treehouse, Harry is introduced to Blu and Jewel's three children, who were happy to have a new playmate. There was 12 year old Carla, who loved music and dancing, 10 year old Bia, who had her father's smarts and creativity, and 8 year old Tiago, who was energetic, and loved adventure and playing funny pranks. Soon, Harry began to truly feel like he could fit in. Even Eduardo warmed up to Harry, with him and Roberto offering to train him to teach him the ways of the jungle. Harry was soon learning about jungle camouflage, wilderness survival, befriending the animals of the Amazon, collecting food such as fruit and Brazil nuts, and avoiding/escaping traps in the jungle. It wasn't easy, but Harry was a fast learner, and Eduardo and Roberto were great teachers, making sure to encourage him to keep working hard. When the training was done for the day, Harry was covered in mud from the camouflage with leaves and twigs in his hair. He was exhausted, but happy that he had such an active day. It was hard work, but this time, he felt proud that he had proved himself to Eduardo and Roberto. After a few weeks, Harry began to feel that the Amazon Jungle was his new home. He had met another tribe of winged people called the Scarlet Macaw Tribe, where the people had red wings instead of blue. They were led by Felipe, a loyal and strong leader. Eduardo and his family told Harry the story of how in the past, the Blue tribe and the Scarlet tribe didn't always get along, but when they worked together to fight off a group of illegal loggers, they put aside their differences and made amends. Every night, Jewel would sing Harry a lullaby that she sang to her kids when they were younger. It went like this: "Moonbeams and starlight, Magical twilight, The warmest rays, Hear it whispering your name. Rainbows at midnight, Sparkling night skies Don't go away, Stay another day." Harry was truly feeling like a part of a family now. But one day, Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore, two wizards who traveled all the way from the United Kingdom, came to the jungle searching for Harry. When they found the Blue Macaw Tribe, they explained to Harry that he was a wizard, and told him the truth about how his parents died, for they were killed by an evil wizard who went by the name, "Voldemort." Harry did not want to go back with the Dursleys. Blu and Jewel stayed by his side, not wanting him to have to leave either. Luckily, Dumbledore was not here to take Harry from his new home, for he had seen how cruel and neglectful the Dursleys were. He decided to let Harry stay in the Amazon until he is old enough to go to Hogwarts, a magical school for wizards and witches in Scotland. Harry was grateful to this, and at that moment, he got his own blue wings on his back! Now he was officially part of the tribe! From that day on, Harry could now fly just like his new family and all the people of the Blue Macaw Tribe! Blue and Jewel adopted him as one of their children, and he was happy to have new parents and siblings. When he was 11 years old, he started school Hogwarts, where he soon found more adventure in magic spells, magical creatures, and friendship.
